For me, listening to songs about trucks was for when I couldn't be/wasn't around trucks. When on board, never needed that.

On board driving with nice stereo speakers, nice stack tone & staccato became a "sing along" with a song that fits the road. When set up right, your ride is a musical instrument, & the road is the song you're playing then. Speaker music really sounds great when it joins in.

Had a Sunday AM San Diego drop, so late Saturday night would run the old US395 route down from San Bernardino. The soundtrack from "Das Boot" fit that rolling grade route like a glove.

Loved eastbound western Wyoming I-80 with Alphaville's "Forever Young", the entire album.

Trucking songs are great, when you wanta go melancholy, sip a beer & feel blue about all the guys you miss real bad. But out when the tread is smacking the trail, & you're adding a part with the "Kenworth Shuffle", it's best when the part KW is adding fits in with the stereo.

Also, in his line of thought, stereo playing background music at your job-site, possibilities that are easy in a truck cab are definitely NOT limited to those of us who enjoyed that on the road.

In major hospitals, once they attract a hot successful surgeon that they wanta keep, & spec-out a new operating theater, the stereo and speaker system that matches his choice is selected, no matter the cost.

Thing there has been a movie or 2 that show the CD being placed in the player just before the operation begins.

"The Doctor" with William Hurt is one of those movies.
