2019 FREIGHTLINER 114SD TRI-DRIVE TANKER
« on: July 01, 2019, 12:32:30 AM »
Thanks to fellow modeller Kurt Hofmeyer (of Germany) who was kind enough to send a few castings of his 114SD cab, one of these will be a regular cab and another variant is going to be mating one of my crew cab castings to his awesome hood casting. To start with though, the regular cab is up first. Kurt's casting on the right with one of our M2 castings on the left

the cabs are very similar but mine is slightly wider at the firewall so with some modifying, we have a fit

utilizing a visor from the M2 crew cab, this one is ready to go to the paint shop

out of the paint shop, a Lime Green -2019 Chrysler Hyper Green- was chosen for this build

this one is going to be a used oil recovery truck -GFL persuasion- so for a tank I had this rectangular style in mind. I think that Robica Forman , now owned by Tremcar offers this style but have not found an image as of now. Kibri offers this in kit form, when I went into my parts bins I found a tanker trailer that that actually has a taller side  profile then the tank offered on the straight truck

after some cutting, sectioning etc. I manged to free the sides from the under side being able to use the new underside from the kit -no suspension- as seen here, mocked up on a Promotex builder chassis

not sure if I will paint the tank in the green or make it an aluminum style yet

Starting to dress up the chassis, the battery box/DEF tanks are resin castings from the Coronado kit, sometimes shared by siblings as is the case with this one

a control panel/pump cabinet mounted on the side, close up of the semi-scratch built box and the fenders are Promotex

the RH side showing more castings from the Coronado, tool box, a fuel tank from Herpa and a cabinet box from the parts bin

Slowly working at this one, the cabinets are in green along with the tank,

the fenders are "chromed" by Molotow Ink Pen and the front flotation tires and Dennis Aust wheels are installed

Looking good! Those Molotow chrome pens are a game changer. Love the Dennis Aust wheels.
