Trucker's Jamboree - Kenly 95 (Updated 5/23/2019)

May 9-11, 2019.

I'm planning on going down and staying in our RV so I can hit all three days of the show, and hit some other local attractions (including some train spotting :) ).

Hopefully we'll have 1 or more of our rigs at the show, fingers crossed on that. ::) ;D

Of course, I'll do a photographic update on this thread after the show. ;)

Anyone else planning on attending?

My son lives 20 minutes west in Clayton so i'm thinking of heading down for 2-3 days but nothing firm yet. I might have to fly down to Tampa & bring a car back to Jersey around the same time but not sure of the dates yet so we'll see. :-\

Have fun Wreckerman. I still haven't posted the shots from last year yet lol, it was a good show with quite a bit of interesting rigs. I'm sure you'll have a good time. And plus there will be plenty of interesting rigs in the regular lot too.

My only complaint is they use traffic cones to number the trucks instead of having the driver put a sheet of paper in the window. Every picture has multiple traffic cones blocking the clean shot. I'm not a fan of that style set up, literally every other judged truck show I've been to just prints a sheet of paper to stick in the window. But still, even though I'm not going this year I'll probably be back again, just because they get some really neat equipment out there. Have fun train spotting too, hope that works out well for ya.

The traffic cone thing sucks IMO. :( Bad enough when trucks are parked 3 feet apart & photos are almost impossible but the cones just add to the frustration. The guys at the Kenly Petro are super cool & would probably listen to the suggestion of paper ID in the window.

Don't forget driving 1 mile south to Big Boys Truck Stop (Exit 105). Should be plenty of sharp trucks there too for the weekend what with the show at Exit 106.

Thanks guys, I've wanted to go for several years, but I believe everything is finally gonna line up this year so I can attend. :)

Thanks for the tip on Big Boy's Charlie, seeing that name again reminded me that several years ago they had a Tow Show there and we picked up a new light duty wrecker we had ordered, and the dealer brought it to the show for us to pick up. That was probably 10 or so years ago.

Big Boys isn't the glamour spot like the Petro at Exit 106 but it does have a restaurant, truckers store & a big lot. ;D Seems to attract a lot of local drivers plus quite a few large car/shiny wheels O/Os who do the I-95 run on a regular basis. Hope I can make it....i'll PM you as the date gets closer.

You're probably right Charlie, if someone suggested it they'd probably listen. I volunteer Wreckerman since he's going this year haha. Give 'em credit though, they space them out better because of all the room they have available. Not like the Southern Classic where every square inch is accounted for.

And if nothing else Wreckerman there's an old White COE daycab at the Big Boy lot that I take a shot of literally every time I roll through, but have never gotten around to posting it yet. I'm sure Charlie or someone else has since the thing's been sitting there for years. Lately finding decent rigs there has been hit-or-miss, seems like most traffic rolls up the road to Kenly nowadays.

The old White COE has been sitting in the same spot since I don't know how long. ??? Seems like it's been there forever & like you I take a pic of it every time i'm there. I agree about the slim pickings lately at Big Boys.....the last year or so I've rolled through the lot several times without lifting up the camera....except for a shot of the old White of course. ;D

When was the last time you rolled through there Charlie? I just did about 3 weeks ago omw to Columbia and they moved it along with the Ford cherry picker to the very back of the lot. I saw the tailgate was down and what looked a couple pallets of bricks was sitting on it. I wonder if they use it for storage.

I'll be by there on Monday & check it out. Flying down to Tampa tomorrow & bringing a car back up to NJ. I'll be checking out Wildwood too......hope to catch a few trucks still around at the 75 Chrome Shop show.

GL with that Charlie, even if all the show trucks leave you should still find some worthy rigs down there. Cheers to a bountiful trip.

Alright folks here's the first update from the Kenly Show.
As a side note, I caught lots of random catches during this trip, so stay tuned to my Catches thread for those.

Also, I'm going to skip naming the companies on these rigs. No real reason, other than faster editing/posting

Okay, on with the show!  :)

First, up a couple from inside the chrome "showroom".
A cool Kenworth W900L.

And the "Prowler", a sharp Peterbilt 379.
Not really into the pink paint, but, different strokes for different folks.
As a side note, this one is actually on a big rotating turntable, and was slowly rotating.
Pretty cool.

A trio of sharp Internationals, 2 Lonestars and an LT.

A sharp International Prostar.
In a later post, there'll be a night shot showing of this one's very impressive lights.

A cool Freightliner Coronado.

"The Goose", a very sharp Freightliner Classic.

A nice Peterbilt 379.
An unusual choice of paint colors, but looks good.

Another nice Peterbilt 379.

A cool Kenworth K100.
For a cabover, you really can't beat the K100 with the Aerodyne sleeper for looks. 8)

And wrapping up today's round, a cool Peterbilt 352.

Stay tuned for a few more rounds of catches over the next week or so. ;D

Thanks Charlie, I'm very glad I went, it was great! :)

Alright, here's another round.

First up, a cool Kenworth W900L.

Another Kenworth W900L.

A sharp Peterbilt 359.

A nice Peterbilt 379.

A very nice Peterbilt 567.

A really sharp Kenworth W900L with a sharp Ford pickup as a load.
As a side note, with those straight pipes, this rig sounded really good. 8)

Another nice Kenworth W900L.

An unusual looking Peterbilt 359 motorhome.

A nice Peterbilt 389.

And dusting off today's batch, a sharp Peterbilt 379.

I recognize a couple of those rigs Wreckerman, nice shots! That Mobil/Delvac W900 was at the Southern Classic last year too. And so was the 567 dump truck. Love what they did to that, it's just a nice looking rig overall. Also that Pete motorhome looks like a 359 (wipers). Glad to see you got a shot of the Goose too, I've always wanted to shoot that rig but haven't gotten the opportunity yet.
