2018 Mack Pinnacle and Walinga Feed Tanker
« on: March 25, 2019, 11:34:18 PM »
I had wanted to get one of these Herpa Walinga feed trailers for years, never did when they were plentiful so here I am searching eBay for months! Finally one had come up, good price so "click" add to cart.........and the story continues

never could understand why Herpa has such a short WB on the CH Mack that was included, I changed a few of those over the years --lengthening the WB- so I thought we would replace the tractor. The Mack Vision was not even brought to market when this item came out, since then I have several Mack Visons in my collection so this time let's do up a Mack Pinnacle for the occasion....... going back to the original Masterbilt casting of the Mack Vision with a resin cab and sun visor from the same source, not outwardly changed over the years for the Pinnacle

keeping it a simple type build, just added a white stripe to the centre. Oddly enough, lucked out, the Peking Red (Molson colour) is the perfect match to Feed Rite red :)
Note: Feed Rite has been bought out by Masterfeeds since this was out too.....Oh well, I wanted 2 of the trailers to make it a tridem but, bought this one, the seller since then found another in the box, would have been perfect, combined shipping........we'll see.

Since First Gear offers a Volco VN day cab, I figured the perfect source for all the fuel, DEF, air tanks, battery boxes and so on would come form this source, shared by Mack too, perfect!

the other side, probably will paint the air tanks silver or chrome them yet! Oh, yeah, used the Herpa chassis but.......lengthened it!

Much improved by changing the wheelbase. 8) Can't wait to see the finished tractor.

Is this what you are modeling?

I'm ignoring the Freightliner tractor and the machine being carried below.
From Walinga's website.

Rob:

I did see that image too, looks tempting to put a Freightliner at the helm too, but......that is not the point, yes, the trailer is!! Looks like this one has none more compartment then what the model has but it is the one other then that! If i did get another one, I would lengthen it enough to add a an axle, that was the plan but so far, looks like it will stay a shorty!

Is the pipe thing on top a spout for delivering the product?
I guess that should make an appearance on your model.
Will be following this one (well, I follow all of them on here LOL) with interest.

Yes, it is for the product delivery, the model does have the tube and it is functional, pretty cool! I will show that part when I get the trailer details going! Here is what it looks like in the 1:1

taken from the internet

seems some have an auger and sum have a blower system, the blowers probably are needed for the tall silo I would think! The model is an auger set up as now blower items included.

Again very nice. When this model came out, Herpa showed it with a Mack R model tractor. I hoped they would make one but it never happened. Today, with resin or 3d printed cabs, you can have almost any tractor you want.

Yes, the selection is fantastic for sure, so much better then when I began, the European selection is/was fantastic compared to what we had but now we're catching up, liking every bit of it!
