Shifting Problem on 62 Ford C-Cab Fire Truck
« on: February 08, 2019, 08:19:52 AM »
Just got a 62 Ford Fire Engine and it will only shift into Reverse, First and Second with the clutch.  All the other forward gears won't work unless I match the speed of the engine and force them in without the clutch.  Does anyone know what to do to make this thing shift right?  Picture:    or  tinypic.com/r/24/Oxehj/9

C and H series Ford's had hydraulic clutches. Low gears tend to be a little forgiving about clutch actuation and shifting. Clutch may need bled.

Otherwise, forks, keys or bearings may be going out in transmission.

Unless you're trying to shift it like a synchronized manual and just flooring thr clutch. Era and GVW of fire truck, 99% likely a crash-box.
