Yup, we're busy now! Thanks!

The last couple weeks have been a blast. They had to pull me off my West Valley plant haul a couple days to cover Mountain Green to South Weber or to run the Ogden trap. Also got to run a few loads of road salt to Draper, which is a first for me in the month of April! Last week I got to do two loads out of Nevada, a haul I missed so very much when I worked for Fife. One load out of Beatty and one out of Nelson. Thursday I ended up having a pretty slow and agonizing trip home with food poisoning, but was back to my West Valley run Friday and Saturday. Ran it again today and I'm loaded to start on it early tomorrow too!
I was supposed to take sand to St. George on the way to pick up the decorative rock in Nevada, but I got to the pit where we load it and they were out of material! Without a load to slow me down going out, I had plenty of time to mess around, so I got a wash in Vegas. Weather was great all week!

Other trucks I saw the last couple weeks.

I really hope he just leaves me on that haul all summer, it's a gravy train on biscuit wheels. Three loads a day and just dump on the fly and go.

Some great shots in that last set.  I wanted to ask if that might get monotonous, but it would still beat the heck out of sitting behind a desk.

Thanks Paul! I think I'll enjoy the West Valley haul all summer if I can stay on it. It's a long enough round and there's opportunities for a couple different backhauls to break it up sometimes. I've been stuck on much more boring, shorter rounds all summer before (and it pays okay too, haha).

I pretty much hauled either West Valley or Beck Street (North Salt Lake) plant hauls the whole last two weeks and worked the last three Saturdays just to try and catch up! Loaded to go to West Valley tomorrow morning. Our weather has been spectacular lately, so I've done lots of washing. Scarlett got a bath, my '77 and '19 pickups got washed, and the Reo got new tires and a long test drive. It's out to a shop getting a little maintenance done and when it comes back, I'll be washing and polishing it to get ready to take it to Reno!

I've known the owner of this 1952 thirty-five foot Utility for years and only recently noticed how cool it actually is. Used to belong to Interstate Motor Lines and this guy bought it from them, along with two others, which they used in some local hauls. It's aluminum and appears to be shiny underneath the paint. I talked to him about it the other day because I'm kind of interested in pulling it to shows with the Reo, even though it's quite a bit older. He is currently using it for storage, but was pretty tickled that I wanted it and I told him I would even repaint his B & T logos (he's retired now), he told me I will one day be the proud owner of it, haha. It obviously needs new everything underneath, but we'll see what happens in the future! Would sure be cool.

Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I hauled to West Valley some more. Tuesday and Wednesday I got to get another load of decorative rock from Beatty, Nevada. This time I had a friend tag along, they needed two loads the same day. This time I called and made sure the pit had the material we haul south to St. George on our way out of town, but after we loaded it, the customer called and said to go back and dump it, they didn't want any, haha. What a joke. Just headed down empty again, oh well. Supposed to rain all next week, so we might get caught up on all our plant hauls!

Sounds like you've been busy, though the whole load-then-immediately-unload deal wasn't to cool.
Scarlett is looking mighty fine, that shot with the mural is really cool. 8)
The old Volvo cabover is a neat find, and the heavy hauls are always a treat.

Thanks! I stayed busy all week last week too, but I had to get creative a couple times to find something to do. It really did rain ALL week, so we got caught up and then some and they started shutting off trucks. When they would cut me off at West Valley, I'd just go load for Beck Street and hope for the best, haha. This three day weekend has been nice to get the Reo ready for Reno...leaving either Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

That SST with escort is really cool. It's something we never see here in the Northeast.

That coyote is quite an interesting shot, nice to see some wildlife now and again.
The weird little motorhome rig is fascinating, pretty unusual setup there.
The blue & white Pete has a cool paint scheme, quite a sharp rig, nice catch. 8)

That coyote came trotting through the lot at the plant I deliver to in West Valley, kinda caught me off guard, haha. It's not far from town. The little motorhome thing is actually the escort for the government truck pictured above...don't know what they haul, but I bet the drivers make more than me.

My only shot for the last couple weeks I actually took while driving the Reo on I-80 coming home from Reno.

I ran five loads to West Valley the week of Reno and let the shop work on the truck while I was gone. Ended up leaving Wednesday night and sleeping in the truck in Elko, enjoyed the show, and came all the way home Monday. Tuesday I ran out to Beatty for more decorative rock, this time I even got to haul sand south for real! Thursday and Friday I ran Beck Street and now I have two loads to go get in Beatty this week!

The Reo did quite well on the journey, very few complications, mostly comfortable to drive. Planning to show it in Hazelton, Idaho at the end of the month...it's also about time to get some polishing done on Scarlett.

Two rounds to Beatty went beautifully last week and then ran three loads to West Valley Friday and two Saturday.

Good to hear things are running smoothly. :)
Some cool shots, the General being a really cool shot, and Scarlett looking typically snazzy.

Thanks! This week was a little more hectic, haha. I ran West Valley all week, but had to go down to Draper and get squeegee to bring back to Ogden every time I had a chance. Then Saturday I ran five loads to the Ogden trap. I also broke down twice (able to limp it back to the yard both times), I blew two different EGR hoses at different times. Caused a big loss in boost and boy does it make a loud sucking sound and smoke like a chimney when you're in the throttle. Also, Wednesday, a rental truck with a bumper pull trailer changed lanes into me (he didn't think the trailer was that long) and then kept going! I had to call the police to get him to stop. That was an adventure, but luckily, the only damage to Scarlett was a few missing lugnut covers. Somehow, I found time to acid wash the trailers and polish the aluminum on the truck, finally have everything the way it should be on this truck. Washed the Reo yesterday too, getting ready for a show in Idaho next Saturday. The transfer dump pictured is my buddy Terry, he's going to the show as well. I helped him polish all his aluminum last weekend. Leaving tomorrow for a round out of Beatty again, gonna be a good week.

The transfer dump is cool. 8) Is that setup something new out west? ??? Don't recall seeing that many axles before. :o

Charlie, the ten axle sets are mostly just a Utah thing. The northwest has mostly eight axle sets, Nevada has transfers with two pups, and a lot of other states just don't see many transfer dumps. Francis has four of these, two 2006s and two 2018s. He's legal at 117,500 and hauls thirty four ton. Staker/Parson, our main customer, has a whole fleet of the same configuration.

Last week was decent, had a buddy along for the trip to Beatty. We had both just polished our trucks over the weekend, so we had to take pictures. Wednesday was spent mostly in the shop fixing air leaks, air conditioning, wheel seals, and broken bolts... ol' girl is falling apart! I did get one round in to West Valley and bounced to Draper to get squeegee to bring home. Thursday and Friday were easy, three loads each day to West Valley. Saturday was spent at the Southern Idaho truck show outside of Twin Falls. The Reo had a pretty good run up there and I had a blast!
