It's a real surprise for me. I'm curious to see what CP will do in the future. Perhaps a closer link with Fastfrate ??

Wow! Most definitely didnít see this!

I havenít heard much from fastfrate in a while. It sounds like a dying company. Thereís a lot of small carriers carrying out domestic CP loads though.

Fastfrate is well alive. The company just renewed an on going ten years contract with CP for an additional ten years. Fastfrate
has co-location with CP in all main cities throughout Canada. CP depends on Fastfrate to provide seamless LTL service, freight consolidation, deconsolidation, warehousing and transshipping. Through its Canada Drayage division (CDI) the company has
also a significant part of CP's container drayage movements.

Fastfrate Montreal facility :

As you can see on the picture Canadian Tire is a big user of the CP/Fastfrate offering.

Talking about take overs. At the start of October Fed Ex took over T N T in the U K wondering if it is World wide.     Bob.

FEDEX took over the worldwide operations of TNT in 2016 and since that time we are in a transition period where gradually the TNT trademark will desappear in favor of FEDEX everywhere in the world.

Off topic, but wasn't Fastfrate related to Kingsway? Or was it related to Canadian/Consolidated Freightways?

Consolidated Fastfrate was indeed part of Kingsway at one time.
You can see Kingsway type font on some of their older trailers.
They had highway drivers who worked out of Kingsway's North Queen Street yard.
That's where Home Depot is now.

In 1986 Consolidated Fastfrate purchased Kingsway from Canadian Steamship Lines and just two years later sold the Kingsway Group of companies to Federated Industries which owned also Motorways. In 1992 Federated Industries gave up the
majority of Kingsway to Cabano including the Fastfrate subsidiary McNeil-McGrath but not Fastfrate which was profitable. Only
two years later the management bought the company and Fastfrate operated again on its own.
