Coincidence (a Tro Air matter)
« on: August 05, 2018, 05:44:32 PM »
2 photographs, 2 locations, 2 tractors, 1 trailer.

In 1994, I took the following photo at Port Huron/Sarnia Gateway :

Twenty four years later , I realize that Wayne Crane shooted the same trailer around the same period in the Ottawa/Nepean
region as he believe.

I'm sure that is the same trailer :o :o Just look to the patch on the back side, the rust on the front and always on the front the blind strip just below the Tro Air logo + the vertical line up of rivets alongside the corner of the trailer.

After that I think that I will buy a loterie ticket :D :D

FOR THE Wayne CRANE PHOTO, JUST LOOK AT IS COLLECTION ON PAGE 194. A TECHNICAL PROCESS PROTECT THE PHOTO
WHICH CANNOT BE COPIED.

You talking about the one with the R model pulling it? If true, nice coincidence.

Yes it is. The thing that help me to find the similarity is the fact that I spot the TNT's companies equipment since so much years and also Tro Air was a relatively small outfit which operated in a dedicated corridor between  Montréal, Toronto, New-York and Chicago airports and in those days I travelled often in the Montréal, Toronto, Detroit corridor.

When did Trojan and Tro-Air stop painting their trucks yellow?
All these companies were based out of the terminal on Rutherford Road in Brampton.

Here's a Tro-Air I shot long after TNT.

Trojan stop to paint their trucks yellow in 1987 when Trojan Uniline was renamed TNT Uniline. For my part, I never had the chance to see a Tro Air tractor painted in the Trojan colour.

The Rutherford Road terminal was the Toronto terminal of Alltrans/Comet and also the home of Trojan. Kwikasair operated
from a location on Britannia Road. After the closure of Alltrans/Comet/Kwikasair group in 1989 Speedy moved in the Ruther-
ford terminal and TNT moved Tro Air and TNT Roadfast to a smaller facility located nearby on Blair street just next of the Hwy
410. TNT Uniline began to serve the Toronto market from its Campbridge terminal.

Here's another Tro-Air - retired since this was in a lot with many other retired Freightliners.

The building next to the Clarkson Petropass where the movie support vehicles park was a Freightliner Used Truck branch for a few years.
It seems to me that these trucks were parked at the rear of the yard that is Contrans (formerly Hopefield) but that is about 20 years ago now.
