Partsman's random bus thread (Updated 5-14-19)
« on: July 07, 2018, 08:20:13 PM »
I see as many coach buses as school buses thanks to living in DC's shadow, so here goes. Hope you guys enjoy:

I'll start with an older Prevost for Wilmington Christian Academy of Wilmington, NC. Caught laid over for the night in Woodbridge:

Something a little different, this is Fairfax County's Medical Ambulance Bus (or Mass Casualty Bus as those of us in the know prefer to call it). 2008 Thomas Saf-T-Liner EF:

VanHool A300K for DC Circulator, a small partnership between WMATA (Metro) and DCDOT:

International CESB (conventional engine school bus) for Fairfax County Public Schools:

International CESB (most likely 54p w/ wheelchair lift) for FCPS:

IC/Amtran RESB for FCPS. With the retirement of FCPS's Thomas buses as of this year the oldest buses in the fleet (2001+) are all IC/Amtran. Welcome to those of us parts specialists who no longer have to stock Thomas parts. :)

Something different, Gillig Low Floor 40' for Raleigh - Durham International Airport:

Another something different, International 3800 for JDR Truck & Trailers out of Tampa, FL. Decorated in the flashy Latin-American style:

Another different one, VanHool CX45 for Disney's Magical Express:

Another unique one, mid-to-late 80's Silver Eagle Model 10 owned by a private operator:

And I'll finish this set with an old crappy shot of a prison transport bus for GEO Transport of Boca Raton, FL:

I really like the Disney bus, my family and I rode on one from the Orlando Airport to Disney 10+ years ago. ;D
Super nice rig (being Disney, that's pretty much a given), and I even have a die cast model floating around somewhere.
The old Silver Eagle is interesting, typically the big motorhome's rear axles are set up opposite of this one, with the duals as the front tandem and the single the rear.

Small update here of some random buses I've shot in the last month or so.

First up a RESB (rear engine school bus) for Fairfax County Public Schools. It's an oddball because most of our full length buses don't have the wheelchair lift and emergency exit.

And then a Prevost LE Mirage XL for an unknown operator. Love the tokin' up paint job on the shades:

Speakin' of bud, caught this Setra TopClass S 417 for Universal Bus Charter of Capitol Heights, MD in Woodbridge today, featuring a neat full-body wrap job for a hemp company.

Another small update here, this time out of Tampa from my trip there in January.

HART #1711 is a 2017 Gillig Low Floor 40' CNG for Hillsborough Area Regional Transit:

PSTA #16101 is a 2016 Gillig BRT HEV 40' for Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority:

HART #1718 is a 2017 Gillig Low Floor BRT Plus CNG 40' for Hillsborough Area Regional Transit:

Seems the city busses don't get much coverage, but a lot of them are really cool looking.
HART 1718 is particularly neat, don't believe I've ever seen a CNG bus before. 8)
Cool catches.

I've been doing quite a bit of bus spotting lately as WMATA (DC's bus service) phases out the older buses, so there will def. be some more buses in this thread eventually. Every major bus service is going to CNG/electric it seems, I try to get more of the regular old diesels that are being phased out lol.
