Working COEs 2018
« on: May 09, 2018, 08:19:09 PM »
Shot this Ontario based Argosy in Pittsburgh today.  Odd name, 2045972 Ont, Inc.  The web shows it to be a one truck outfit.  I see straight trucks here from Rob country fairly often, usually out of Brampton or Mississauga.

The "numbered company", used to mean a truck leased to a variety of companies and a name would not be placed on the door so the other companies he hauls for don't "share" a truck, not sure if that same thing applies anymore but that was common! I used to drive one quite similar, a 1981 Freightliner COE straight truck, one way haul for Clevite, then Weaherhead and or Timken but not limited to! To confuse the scale house boys, Lease agreements were kept in the glove box, what freight do I have on, Clevite, here is the Clevite Lease ::).........."who do you drive for", ..........Kenning Driver Service..........who owns the truck.........Elgin Leasing.......most of the time they took a quick peak at my log and if all was good, "just be on your way". So I would

Ha Ha Ha Paul.
The last working cabover I saw was from your territory.
The "Numbered Ontario Company" is done for tax purposes.

Jim - Is Elgin Leasing now the Elgin Motor Freight division of Challenger?

It is exactly that Rob, I think it was around the mid 90's, I was here already when that happened. On the main site I have some pictures of the last time I saw them as Elgin Leasing!

....and other legal perks. :-X...Jim. ;)

A Numbered Company is a corporate registration, but in this case you’re not choosing a name for the business. The corporation number, jurisdiction, and legal ending make up the company name.

For example, 1234567 Ontario Inc. Where the number, 1234567, is assigned at the time of registration; the “Ontario” represents the jurisdiction of registration (this is also the Corporation Number); followed by the legal ending of choice (in this case Inc.).

While this type of business name is not desirable for most businesses, in certain circumstances, such as a Holding Company, a Numbered Company may be quite sufficient.

Alternatively, a Numbered Company may have registered Operating Names under which it can conduct business.

This is the same Pete COE Rob recently caught in the Toronto area, back doing what he does best, hauling frac sand.  Shot coming into PA on I-80 Saturday 6/16/18

That's a spiffy looking IH there, a classic looking rig. 8)

I like all the shots especially the Sandman Pete. The Livery matching the work it does and product it carries.     Bob.

Both these were shot Sunday 11/4.

This Freightliner running for Mercer was shot at Truck World in Hubbard OH.  He must be a local since he is usually parked here on the weekends I am through.  Looks like it could be a modified ex-Heartland tractor.

This IH was coming into PA on 80.  Runs for Little Devils Express of Watersmeet MI, which Safer lists as a 1-truck company.  It's a good bet it's an ex-Roehl, another upper Midwest company.

The Freightshaker is a very cool catch. 8)
Some interesting equipment on it, including the little crane above the headache rack.
I'd assume that's for lifting spare tires, but I'm sure the driver has other novel uses for it.

I've crossed paths with this Fairway Argosy from Ancaster ON numerous times over the last few years along the I-79 corridor.  I found him parked at the Portersville PA Pilot the AM of Sat 11/17.
