New Freightliner "EconicSD" Trash Truck

Freightliner's new Rig for the trashy side of trucking. ;D

I think it's very European in general appearance, and the interior looks pretty nice for a strictly vocational truck.
The windshield also seems extremely large, which is good for visibility, but will be very expensive if it ever needs to be replaced.

I knew I recognized the Econic Name... So Daimler Finally decided to bring the Mercedes Version over here, and rebadge it as a Freightliner  :o 8)

Saw that. So they are taking another stab at it eh? Remember the Condor?

Going to be a hard market to take from Mack and Autocar.

Paystar-Peterbilt is doing a pretty good job of taking market share away from Mack. Not that I like it.

Not holding my breath on the longevity of much of the electronics and tech. Refuse trucks tend to be abused, rode hard and put away wet, a business modicum that performs best with simple design.

Also, agreed about the windshield. It'll be north of $1,000 if needing replaced.

x1000 this. All of Solid Waste's trucks for my county job run every day except Thanksgiving Day and X-mas. If QC wanted to, it could fail them for the 1000 different nitpicky things always going wrong in between the hydraulic lines, brakes, lights, etc. that are always failing on these, but they tend to focus elsewhere because they don't like getting up close with these stinky beasts. Now imagine all that but with added tech inside the cab. I totally agree with you.

What I want to know is if anyone will take one of those rebadges and put a 5th wheel and one of the weird sleepers like on the mercedes version on it. That would be a sight to see in the US.
If I haven't found it, I will. Believe me, no truck is safe from my eyes, Large or scaled.
