Roadway Historical Video
« on: February 12, 2018, 07:20:00 PM »
Great video by Roadway for their 75th anniversary, posted by Jimmy B on YouTube .  A lot of great shots of their classic long hood Mack R-700's from the '70s, and also the C-Series Fords.  Can't believe it's been 15 tears since the merger with Yellow.

Paul & Jimmy,
Nice video. I've got a book on Roadway with some of the photos.

Great video, quite a history! Enjoyed the H Macks, R Macks and the Fleetstars, little GMC tractors, awesome variety!

Why did Roadway switch off of Mack and over to White back in the late seventies early eighties.

I thought I saw the reason for the switch explained on someones collection on HTP but since it's been removed so has the answer. :(

I would imagine White either gave Roadway a better price for a larger order or Roadway wasn’t impressed with the first Mack CHs, which is why Overnite made the change.

I remember seeing a picture somewhere of one of the Overnite test tractor CH's. It was one fine looking CH. Also I think when the first CH's came out the E-7 came out with a lot of engine problems.
