RS600L vs. RS700L
« on: November 10, 2017, 09:57:02 AM »
So I was looking on truck paper, drooling as always, and saw RS600Ls and RS700Ls. What's the difference? they look pretty similar to me, but then again, I couldn't tell the difference between the axle forward and axle back version of the GMC Cracker Box trucks. Please help and thanks in advance.
If I haven't found it, I will. Believe me, no truck is safe from my eyes, Large or scaled.

RS600l western R model ( Value liner) Steel frame (S) Light weight (L) Shorter BBC for the Mack engine. Hood a little taller than a standard R model

RS700L western R model steel frame light weight as above. BBC (hood) was longer to accommodate Detroit, Cummins, Cat engines. Mack V-8's also.

James is correct.

Ok, that makes sense. Is there any particular reason the RS and RD hoods were different?

Not sure why the RS 600 hoods were higher. May bee for the 6v/8v-71's (super charger). The RD hood was in two forms. The original RD used the R 600 hood. The newer RD hood started in about 1990. I liked the original hood better.
