Silkeborg Veteranrally, pt. 1
« on: June 10, 2017, 10:08:06 AM »
Silkeborg Veteranrally is an annual road run for antique trucks and buses, and today's road run was the 17th in a row, with a little over 100 vehicles participating. They do a loop in the countryside around Silkeborg, and there are many nice spots for photography; I happened to pick a spot a little bit west of the village of Gjern, east of Silkeborg. Here are some of the trucks that took part.

1939 Scania Vabis owned by Stephen Dixen, Ullerup.

1971 Volvo F88 owned by Knud Skov Christensen, Esbjerg.

1968 Bedford in the livery of Johs Jensen & Søn, Hedensted.

1956 Scania Vabis owned by Jens Konrad, a transport company out of Silkeborg.

1957 Scania Vabis 51 in the livery of Erik Olsen, Broby.

1957 Mercedes 312 in the livery of Viggo Jensen, Frederikshavn.

MAN Diesel 10.210 with an unusual looking cab, and of unknown year, though I'd guess early to mid 60s. In the livery of E. Olsen, Vridsl & Selille.

1960 Bedford in the livery of Frode Laursen, Vitten, which is now one of the largest transport companies in Denmark.

1962 Thames Trader in the livery of Vognmand Poul Erik Jensen, Hadsten.

1963 Scania Vabis 55 owned by Torben Johannessen, Ølstykke.

1964 Bedford in the livery of Svend Jacobsen, Salten.

1964 Volvo Titan Tiptop in the livery of Martin Skov, Egaa.

Very interesting Swiss made 1965 Berna/Saurer. Says B.E. Hansen on the door.

1965 Bedford with a small crane and a specialized trailer in tow, in the livery of Højbjerg Maskinfabrik.

1965 Scania Vabis LBS 76 owned by Jens Konrad, Silkeborg.

There were a handful of buses as well, and I'll let this one represent them. It is a Norwegian built Repstad body on a British built Bedford chassis.

More to come.

All of these are awesome, it's really interesting to see what vintage European trucks were like. The classic bus is also cool!
