The Western Star 5700  IS very cool with small bunk, have not seen one like that around yet! The little GMC/Chevy big bunk is interesting

Yeah, the "Pacific" seems kinda silly, I would be curious to hear why they're called that.
The Western Star was super nice, amazingly we went on a Saturday afternoon and all of the for sale rigs were unlocked. I jumped in the Star and wow, it was super nice! 8)
Here's a couple extra shots of it:

Here's a another randoms batch.

A nice Peterbilt 379 for Pacific Tomato Growers from Palmetto, Florida.

A cool International 9900.

A clean Freightliner Cascadia for Blue Line Transport from Miami, Florida.

A cool Kenworth T880.

A sharp Kenworth T680 for Abilene Motor Express.

A very interesting Freightliner 122SD for C.R. England.

A nice Peterbilt 379.

A very sharp Kenworth W900L. 8)
Gotta say, I really like this paint scheme, though in my opinion it could lose the painted fuel tank.

A nice Freightliner Cascadia for DW Carr Jr & Sons Trucking.

A nice Volvo VNL.

A cool Kenworth W900L.

The next two were caught here:

A sharp Kenworth T680 for Falcon Transportation headquartered in Presque Isle, Maine.

A pretty rough ex Cone Mills White/GMC.
Note: this rig is still running, I saw it a few days later out and about.

A shot from the new Inland Port Dillon in Dillon, South Carolina.
A Konecranes Rubber Tired Gantry Crane.
Move Over & Slow Down for Stopped Emergency Vehicles.

The sharp W900L looks like it belongs to one of my favorite fleets.........Lanita Specialized from Mt. Aetna PA. :) 8)

I've seen a few of Lanita's rigs but haven't seen that yet, but it fits the profile of a sharp W900 which Lanita loves to run. Nice find on the midroof Star Wreckerman, I haven't seen one of those yet either.

And I agree with Jim, I'm curious as to why that company is named Pacific too lol. Also nice catch on the CR England Coronado, those are a rare find.

The Lanita W900 is a very cool catch of course, and I'm also liking the DW Carr Cascadia.  While I wasn't so sure about them at first, those second generation Cascadias have really grown on me and this is one of the nicest looking examples of one I've seen so far.

Here's a better look at the Lanita KW that I took at the TA in Paulsboro NJ on 4-27-17.

Back in the late 1960's after my grandma passed away my family made a few trips to the south in March. I think originally it was Easter and then Ontario made it March Break. We went to Myrtle Beach a couple of times. I recall driving UNDER the big Pedro on US 301. Interstate 95 was incomplete there so traffic was detoured over to 301. Don't recall it being a truckstop but the ice cream was excellent and we stopped when going both ways . There were several truck stops in the area.
Dillon might be where we turned towards Myrtle Beach.
Maybe the name stuck in my memory banks since one of my school chums was named Bill Dillon.
Oh; that's around over 50 years ago.

Thanks guys!
Thanks for the info on the Lanita KW, looks like they have a very classy fleet.
That's awesome you've been to South of the Border Rob!
I've always wondered what it was like back years ago, around its heyday.
It's unfortunately fairly run down now, but with the new "Inland Port Dillon" just down the road, hopefully its business will pick up.
It's still a cool place to stop though, hopefully it'll stay around a couple more decades at least. :D

I'd say there's a good chance of it.
It's a convenient location for southbound trucks to hit.
Next time I'm headed south, I'll make sure to slide through there and see what's up. ;)

I imagine that the Porky's dirt lot is still open for parking ? The restaurant never was much & they sold clearance souvenirs at the fuel desk . Only a few locals hung out in the bar when it was open . But at night the South of The Border lights were magical !

Yep, the lots still open.
As a side note, Google Street View gives a good look at the current conditions.

When I passed by in early May the lot was open and a few trucks were parked there. Porky's was closed up tighter than a drum. :(

That whole strip is need of some revitalization. And it's been like that for a couple decades now, my first trip was in the 90's and it was a ghost town then too.

I imagine it was quite the sight way back in the day though, but those days are long gone. Hopefully someone puts some money into it eventually.
