April 2 2017..........a sunny Sunday here in Barnegat NJ finds a local trucker fueling up his 1986 Ford before hooking up to his trailer and heading up to Vermont to begin his week.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe that's an LT9000. I'm still working on my knowledge of old Ford trucks, even though most of them are the same age as me or close to it. Nice catch Charlie.

Close, LTL 9000 is it's designation!

Monday April 3 2017

I've seen these "walking floor" trailers in the Contrans yard but not on the road. This one wasn't really on the road either - it had been to the Petro Pass to fuel and was it's way back.

Thanks for the clarification. Just curious, is there any visual cues that you use to identify it? I know the L9000 has the horizontal bar grille but don't know much more than that.

Also s/n nice truck Rob, not a big Prostar fan but that one looks good.

Mooby346, there are a lot of L series, here is a link to "Ford L series 101", probably help clear if up a bit for you, hood lengths, fender/grille styles are all varied by model and T behind the L indicates tandem axle.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_L-Series
pick any one picture in the link to expand on that model, you'll have quite the assingnment for one sitting! :)

Since it is 22:30 Mississauga time and I'm going to bed shortly (old guys do that, then we wake up early.)
I will post the POTD for Tuesday April 4 2017.

It was a rainy morning in Mississauga and the Tim Hortons truck was just leaving after making it's regular Tuesday delivery.

was just getting ready to fill the empty spot----Anyone who gets out and takes a pic in the rain deserves to post it--nice graphics.
I've been dealing with allergies after the wet winter everything is in bloom so I've been kind of laid back.---Walt

Thanks Jim! I glanced at the main article, this is a great resource. It will definitely help clear things up for me.

The Ford LTL 9000 was designed as an OTR model for Ford, meant to compete more with the owner operators whereas the L9000 was a fleet truck mainly. They never quite cracked the market as at the time Peterbilt and Kenworth really had it cornered but these trucks were always pretty cool IMO. The LTL has the same L-series cab, but has a different hood and front fenders.
