HOME HARDWARE FREIGHTLINER FL 80 LUMBER TRUCK
« on: March 12, 2017, 11:42:57 PM »
This is an RMM of Germany resin casting of an FL 60 that has been upgraded to an FL 80. Wheel flares added to the casting

Finally making use of a HIAB crane that I have had for years, mocked up on the stretched chassis with a lift axle

A Lonestar lumber flat deck has been selected for the project

6 spoke flotation wheels tires persuade this to be an FL80

The only cab I know is by Merlau Modellbau, Germany. The website seems to be in German only. I couldn't find a solo daycab, but only as part of a rescue kit:

May be, you can find another on ebay.

That is where mine came from too Kurt, the rescue kit! I was able to get mine thru Tip Aiken (Truck Stop Models) back then and tried to get extras from RMM, never got back to me. I went and made a mold of mine -son Jamie wanted one- cast a few extras for my use.

After getting some parts -or actually donor kits from Herpa thru eBay-  I used the cabs for the windows and interior, the windshield wipers will be pillaged off this cab too yet.  Not quite finished, it is getting close

grille and trim is detailed, clearance lights and mirrors added, exhaust stack is K&S Aluminum tube with Masterbilt heat shield added

"HH" decals are left over from my IH Prostar project (from Graphics On Demand) and the small print on door is from the Lonestar decal set included with the lumber truck.

Great looking truck. I like the lift axle not being in the usual spot. I've seen a few like that around here but it's not common.
