I like the Sperry Sprinter. I haven't seen those either -
F series Fords usually.
I saw you got some snow down that way - we haven't had that much yet this winter.
Is that a dedicated train for Tropicana?

Thanks guys :).

Rob/Jim I think I know the Ford you're talking about, Ford F-6 or 7 series chassis with the small command box mounted on the back? Seems that's the most common rig Sperry has. I see this one parked semi-often at this hotel in Alexandria.

This was the 2nd snow we've had, first decent one though. That train used to be solely dedicated for Tropicana carrying empties back south to FL and fully loaded north to Jersey, but now since sales have slowed they combine it with an intermodal that runs up to the ports in NJ.

Anyways here's a few more from today and last week:

Cruised around Sterling last week, moving season appears totally dead up there but construction season is always going as long as the weather cooperates. FL M2-106 for United Rentals:

See these guys running from the quarry to Titan Concrete all the time in Sterling, they have a nice fleet of VHD 300's:

Starting to notice these guys more, seen them on I-95, on I-81, and now delivering to a local warehouse down in the mover's alley. All appear to be bright neon T800's painted in various colors. Company's called Old Pylon Trucking out of Edinburg, TX:

Caught this VHD 300 for Moore Transport up in Alexandria today:

I won't keep doing this but caught another snowbird today, this time it's the Auto Train making its' daily run from Lorton to Sanford, FL:

The Old Pylon T800 is cool, and the Auto Train is a nice catch. 8)

Not a big update but I am thrilled to catch one of these older Marten trailers without the swoosh. Had to seize the moment so I stuck the camera out the window for a point'n'pray today:

And so this post isn't just one shot, here's a few fire trucks for Loudoun County I caught at the VDOT Incident Command Open House back in November:

This is Loudoun's newest Hazmat unit 619, a 2018 Pierce Impel that runs out of Station 19 Dulles South:

And here's Sterling Vol. Fire Co.'s heavy rescue, a 2010 Spartan Gladiator/SVI:

And here's Loudoun County's MAB 623, a medical ambulance bus, 2007 Thomas Saf-T-Liner EF:

And here's Loudoun County's HazMat Support Unit 619. HMSU 619 is a 2016 Durastar/Pierce that runs in tandem with Hazmat 619:

And here's Loudoun County's Tanker 604, a 2016 Mack Granite/Pierce w/ 3k gal tank and 1500 gpm/pump that runs out of Station 4:

That Marten trailer is from their newly (last 4 yrs or so) formed Van division.  The Van's don't have the swoop or bird logo.

Oh I didn't even realize that, I thought they were the older "being phased out" van trailers that were being abandoned in favor of the swoosh. Thanks for the tip IST!

Agreed Jim! I like that Loudoun County and Fairfax County have several of them, all spec'd mostly the same. It's a neat piece of apparatus.

Anyways, took the day off work with the hope I'd score a shot of the Nats' spring training truck loading up at Nats Park, and was unsuccessful in that regard. But I headed out to Dulles/Loudoun County and scored some shots of some movers (to be shared later) and some shots of some new and some old William A. Hazel (out of Chantilly) Macks:

The Hazel Macks are really nice, particularly the Titan. 8)
It's a shame Mack didn't continue the Titan, Volvo should drop the VNX and bring back the Titan. ::)

Thanks guys! Agreed Wreckerman, shame Mack mishandled the market for the Titan so much in NA. The market definitely exists for a tough Mack heavy hauler, but they blew it. I have yet to see any local companies buy a VNX heavy hauler, yet there are still a ton using old Macks, and there's about 4-5 Titans floating around that the local major construction companies all have.

The older Macks are just robust and easy to service, low cost to maintain, so they definitely have held up well. Have yet to see a VNX not at a show, the VHD has done decently well though.

Jon you seen any of these yet?

Image pulled from here: https://www.trucks.com/2018/03/14/volvo-vnx-heavy-haul-truck/

They've been in production since Q2 2018 and I have yet to see any of the 3 configurations on the road. Not saying there's none out there but it looks like heavy haul companies are being stingy with their money. I've already seen a new heavy haul Mack Anthem for Lester Summers just the other day too, not to mention the Mack Anthems popping up everywhere in all kinds of class 8 configurations.
