ICON 900
« on: October 04, 2015, 12:02:35 PM »
I figured some of us might want a thread for the ICON 900, so I'll start one by posting the two ICON's I've caught.
First was a black one that rolled up beside me at Tower Hill Truck stop recently. it was runnin a 550 Cummins, 3.73 rears ridin' on 8-bag

Next up is my neghbour Mel. He ordered this one and was pretty excited to take delivery. 46k 3.73 rockwell rears, 500 ISX and 46k 8-bag

Nice finds!! I've only seen one so far, at the dealer in need of a home. Sharp truck IMO.

Looking at them, they're not bad looking rigs in my opinion, but, I cannot wrap my head around what makes them worth the enormous upcharge in purchase price compared to a standard 900L.

How much extra is an Icon?

Jan, I've seen new ICON's on Truckpaper from about $155-$175,000, but it seems like some W900L's are running about the same :-\

Ok, so basically priced the same as a fully loaded standard W900L, then? Not so bad, since I suppose that's pretty much what it is... :)

Collector value would be my thought later on, similar to the Pete 379X, etc...cool unit, that one David snapped is a neat color combo.  Almost reminds me of EJ Bourque's rigs up in Quebec with the stripes.

Keim-TS out of Sabetha, KS has a couple, as they are apparently reward tractors.

I took this "scrap-tacular" shot yesterday of a new pair, locked behind a fence on a gloomy day at Youngstown Kenworth.  Maybe someone could photoshop a jersey barrier in for me. ::) :)

Indeed! I like the retro paint schemes they are offering on these trucks, I believe they might be exclusive to the ICON, but Kenworth seems to pretty much build what you want so I could be wrong.

Number 322 has traded in the reefer van for a 48" Manac logging trailer. The owner is a former Logger who sold all his equipment and bought the ICON for the highway haul. Looks like you can't take the logger out of the bush for long without him coming back! Here he has a 45 tonne net of 16's for the Sapawe Sawmill here in Northern ON.
Likely the only ICON working in the bush.
