Was that Wee Willy putting pedal to the metal. They sure built Fords strong back in the day.   Bob.

Always liked this movie.  Big fan of John Candy... especially in his earlier movies. RIP.

Kinda wish that clip had included the part with the ice cream man and the rocket launcher. Funnily enough, that scene shown here and the tanker getting blasted is all I can remember of that movie... been ages since I've seen it. Oh, yeah.. and the "if I go to jail, I'll kill you" scene.

How many people knew the stunt truck that blew up was a modified Freightliner?

I'd have to watch it again to tell you or not. I did not occur to me at the time though. Same as the tanker explosion in the 1st Terminator. It was a model truck though.

Ta Dah

Here's a photo of the blow up, look at the windshield, doors, door handles, door window's, Visor and the front of the truck a little bit, around the grill, pretty sure it's a Modified Freightliner, I know it's not an official CLT-9000, even though there was two trucks though, there was only one Tanker hauling the rocket fuel inside of it

They did the same thing in White Line Fever, the truck they crashed was a older W-1000, not a WT-9000, Headlight brackets are a dead giveaway

Off topic, but, the same truck was used in the Snake in the Cab scene, Damage visible when he approaches the truck

It did mention that it was a modified Freightliner for the crash scenes and explosion....BUT there was no tanker full of rocket fuel..lol.

John Candy (God rest his soul) was a class act. From everything I read, what we saw on the screen was also John in real life. Fun to be around & work with, flowers for the ladies on the set, etc.

One of those late-in-the-night CB info-panels was discussing the bump-cars-around movie crunches. One guy had seen or done some of that. Said the motors had been removed from the cars used for that. Things don't fly around with a heavy V-8 still under the hood.
If you don't ask, they can't say no.

Oddly enough, when this movie had came out, my father had just gotten a brand new 1987 Ford CL-9000, that was very similar to this one, except his truck has curls facing towards the back on his stacks and his truck was dark blue with a blue-ish, silver-ish, instead of dark blue and white, but, everything was identical and even had that same wave stripe design
