Without consulting your fine book - American Car Haulers - which fleet had Studebaker tractors?

That's so cool. 8) Just a question though........would a driver be allowed to haul a Lincoln out of a FMC plant using a non Ford tractor? ??? Seem to remember back in the day companies were very strict about that.

All the Studebaker haulers had Stude trucks: Robert Walker, Bolin Driveaway, Geo Burdett, ARCO Carriers, Dixie Auto Trans, Dallas and Mavis forwarding co. Charlie, Automobile Transport Inc hauled many of the Lincoln/Merc products into the East. E&L and other Ford carriers also hauled some. And before anyone mentions it: This isn't a Lincoln. The 56s were called "Continentals". This load was maybe a used car delivery.

Way back when I was a kid we had a Studebaker dealership in Bayonne NJ but for the life of me I can't remember who used to deliver their autos. :-\ I do recall the Avanti's coming in.........they were cool. 8)

I have a photo of Avanti's on trucks in S Bend but it's not yet on my photo page. By 1963, everything going more than 500 miles (sometimes less) went by rail. I'm not sure which rail heads Stude used but maybe Little Ferry or Selkirk (maybe Albany then). ARCO Carriers worked in NJ and they did haul Studebakers. They may have also come truck direct by Dallas and Mavis. If we can find an old invoice for an Avanti, it make list the transporter.
