TMC Dakota Shamrock KTL- 10 years Ago
« on: December 27, 2013, 09:11:53 AM »
Uploaded some ex-Webshots photos to SlickPic.  I was at TMC's Des Moines HQ's/yard in 2002 and walked around the yard.  This was when they were primarily in their Freightliner phase.

That's either a Dakota or Shamrock division in the background.

This was around the same time they bought KTL out of Joplin? I think.

I always thought the Classic XL's were the coolest TMC trucks....but then again, this was right after I had my job at Tracey Freightliner of Albany NY.  I was partial to Freightliners at that point in my life.

Yes...this was an Owner Operator.

Odd Century Class midroof.

Very different from the TMC we see today.  Cool shots!
The foot turned to the horse, the horse to the carriage, the carriage to the train, and the train to the truck.

That's a big 10-4. ;D I recall taking shots of TMC rigs at Bordentown back around the same time Mike & while the Freightliners were spiffy they can't hold a candle to the Petes of today. I shot a Pete 579 today & the chrome almost blinded me. :D

Very dull looking Centurys compared to the TMC of todays world.   I really do like that Classic XL though!!  Thanks for sharing

Mike

Finally found the trucks i posted back in January 2008 & hope it's ok to include the link here as it ties in with yours. Btw wasn't KTL out of Pittsburg KS? I recall seeing one of their trucks in Springfield MO back in 1999 and can swear that's what was lettered on the door. ;D

My favorite time period for TMC was when they ran the W-900B and had the light on the mirror bracket to shine on the TMC lettering at night thought it was a nice touch.

Hey Rick, courtesy of our hero Gary Morton!  Love these photos!  Growing up, this is how I remember TMC, and it was primarily just from looking through the Trucking Recruiting magazines at truckstops.
