Fri 16 - I-80, Nebraska
« on: August 18, 2013, 06:42:48 PM »
Having gotten as far as Nebraska, I was able to stop aGretna, just west of Omaha, and spend an hour and a half taking pictures. Lots of traffic, quite a few interesting trucks. Here's a taste of what I caught there.

We'll start with what I consider my catch of the day: this exceptionally cool W900L flattop with muralled spread axle reefer, for Rohrer Transportation out of Smoketown, PA. :)

This exceptionally sharp T660 for D&G Transportation out of Germantown, WI, came along just before I got to the rest area.

Very sharp Coronado race hauler for Panther Racing, based in Indianapolis, IN.

He was running with another Coronado for the same company. :)

Very sharp 379 heavy hauler for Skillett & Sons out of Rush Center, KS.

Very long wheelbase Volvo VNL780 operated by Performance Marketing Group out of Noblesville, IN, and hauling for Roche.

Sharp VNL300 for Hy-Vee, based in Chariton, IA.

379 flattop for Ellis Trucking out of Harrodsburg, KY.

Sharp, older W900L flattop for Jensen Trucking out of Gothenburg, NE.

Sharp flattop 389 for PG Farms out of Shelton, NE. Pretty sure this is an ex-Jim Daws rig.

Sharp older FL Classic leased to Monson Truck Line out of Monticello, MN.

386 for Kreutner Enterprises out of Ruthven, IA.

Sharp IH 9900i daycab for L&B Trucking out of Minden, IA.

Old style Mack for Watkins Concrete Block Company of Omaha, NE.

Finally - not quite sure what this would be defined as, but it is apparently owned by "The Mobile Nobles of Tangier Shrine Center" of Omaha, NE. Possibly the weirdest looking contraption I have caught on American roads so far. ;)

A long time ago, maybe 15yrs + Winross made a Rohrer truck, it was a reefer, similar trailer no mural though, with a Ford LTL9000 daycab, but I always thought it was a cool model...always thought it was a fake company....proved me wrong!

That Rohrer  has to be in contention for the best of the trip!  And that Shriner "Thing" is weird.  Don't think I've ever seen it before.  But it is indeed strange.

Wow, still associated with Rohrer Seed's?  Didn't realize they still had trucks running if so.

IST, back in the late '70's, the Rohrer Seed Marmons were one of the coolest trucks on the road, and definite "must catches."

I knew that color scheme looked familiar!! I would never have guessed that this company was still around, but glad to see it is 8) 8)
Nice catch also on the pair of Panther Racing haulers. Panther is an Indy Racing League team sponsored by the National Guard.

Cool, Paul! Probably related in some way... Rohrer Transport is listed as having one truck on Safer, though, so apparently not a big company any more. :)
