Ah! This great. Half hour back (0645 HR EDT), watching the drama of arrival of the PULLMANTOR MV MONARCH, Home Port Valletta.
The newer Cruise Ships are amazing. Capability to get into and depart berths without any help from Harbor Tugs...

Ah, this site is great! It is a slow moving plot.

I note the eager on the MV Monarch were on decks at 0645. It then took better part of
two hours before any bus at the Terminal,  to take them into town...

Yes, the Container Ship came thru and passed shortly after MV Monarch came to berth.
See the Google Map, and note the little "flag" at the "Freight Side" Piers. It had the lines
of an Inter-Island, self load/ unload smaller freighter.

The "Oil Tanker" spotted? Can't figure where it went. In later views, a Vessel in the
distance with lines of a bulker. But, the one I spotted, it can't be possible it did a quick
turn, at a depot generally West of the Container Pier...

Glad we can keep you entertained Vern. :D If you really want to get involved 24/7 try the New York harbor site..........enough action there to require several yellow legal pads & pencils to keep score. ;D

YAWN! Thanks, but I like the leisurely pace of Port Aruba! <G>

BTW. At 0745 HR, TU 13 AUG, views of Container handling, and various truckers hauling them around. Jamie (here) can relate to it!
Reminds of my life back in another age, when I was very active with it.

MV MONARCH? Whoa! As of this a.m., it had sailed and left town. One can wonder if they want to buy tickets for such tours. Here,
it appears the Aruba stop with just enough time to get some trinkets from local merchants in the Pier area? So much for a night on
the town in Aruba!

(0930 HR) Right now, working MV MELBOURNE STRAIT. These folks know how to run a snappy show...

Couple things come to mind when watching the container ship unload..

First is that from this angle, it almost looks like a model display.

Second is that this view makes Baltimore look like an enormous operation and Baltimore is on the smaller side when it comes to container business.

Third is that it seems more on the inefficient level. Clearly with this being a smaller operation, lifts per hour and stuff like that aren't as important. They seem to take their time down there.

Overall, I still think it is an interesting business to watch and be in.

I have been looking in on the Container Ship, MELBOURNE STRAIT. The guys put on a show, and look like they have some hustle.
They have done well with working their current "in bound" ex Vessel. Note the "Reefer" Boxes are so vital to this trade...

Recall Aruba of Dutch heritage, and much of the trade is with Netherlands. Haven't spotted many MSC boxes. BTW, reporting
notes with accompanying Maps notes a MAERSK is in. The Pier is not covered by the Web Cam we see...

I  that too Vern in regards to the reefer containers. Makes sense though.

If anybody is interested, here is the gate cam at Seagirt Marine Terminal. Not as interesting as Aruba, that's for sure. lol

Vern  -  Jamie

Life's a little slower in the tropics mon. :D I don't see them breaking any records in working a ship down there. These feeder vessels might do a lot of island hopping in the region & drop off and pick up cans over a 2 week +/- period. I like your comparison to a model Jamie......the more i look at the scene it reminds me of a diorama. ;D

FYI just the other side of the Cruise Ship pier there's a car carrier docked. :o I'd have thought new cars would come in with the box ships, didn't think they'd be enough volume to warrant a whole shipload. :-\

Doesn't take much to keep me amused? Noticed (at 1115 HR WE 14) MV AURIGA J at the Container Pier.
Also, at the Cruise Ship "ramp" (and note adjacent vehicle storage lot) MV MORNING COMPOSER delivering
vehicles. It very much reminds of A C L Vessels, years back, which "RO/RO" designs, and load/ unload at
the stern.

I'll guess why the "Car Carrier" is in. Possibly running an Islands "peddle run" with several Ports Of Call. BTW,
the one being worked, I noted sometime around 0700 HR. It had dropped from my screen, and I couldn't guess
its moves...
