I really liked looking at their equipment - waited and looked high and low, quite often to get the chance to photograph their trucks. Caught a Columbia at the rest area on I-79 south of Grove City Pa. several years ago.

Caught a Cascadia 3 weeks ago at the Pennsylvania Welcome Center on I-79 North at Kirby Pa - driver appeared to be so inconveniced with my question that I asked myself "why did I bother?"

So, you'll have to break one of my arms to get me to take another Sheetz picture.
I won't make the effort ever again due to that driver.

Don't kill all the dogs because one had fleas

I've been on both sides on this one. Driving for 47 years, 28 of those years in trucks as attractive as I could make'm, you get all kinds of contacts when you've stopped, & about 1 out of 4 or 5 is worth while. Also, even real nice guys can have a real bad day, No way of knowing what was going on just before/while/or he knew was in his future later that day after you left.

There's always one guy in every group I've ever been associated with, who overdoses daily on grumpy pills. I was hauling gas in the 9/11 era, and Homeland Security was planning on really tightening up pipeline terminals, where we loaded. Now, we all knew each other better than we knew our own brothers. When you & another driver are both on the island for the pipes & meters between the 2 tankers, & each of you is loading with 2 hoses, at 600 gal/min each hose, you gotta know each other. As regards Homeland Security & our own Mr. Grumpy Driver, I told everybody how stupid Homeland Security was, since there were never any strangers loading gas together, and I'd always say, "There's a guy who pulls in here, and I can tell just by the way he turns off the road & pulls thru the gate, wheather he's mad or really pissed-off!" Everybody would grin or laugh, because everybody had that guy's number.

As a life-long railroad fan (& I don't even think about getting on railroad [property since 9/11. I only model up to '68 when they torched-off the roofwalks anyway), soon learned to become a master of child pyschology. Railroaders were always apprehensive of strangers (usually rightly so) & us fans had to display the most impecible character possible. It went both ways. Made life-long friends of many railroaders (God rest their souls), & a grumpy few couldn't have been more sour (God rest their souls, too).

But, don't break your arm, and then hit the rest-areas wrapped up in a splint to visit with the guys parked. They'll all think you're out there to panhandle.
If you don't ask, they can't say no.

Following a tanker on I-79.  Lest you forget where to stop for fuel and coffee, the Sheetz name appears no less than five times on the back....

....and 11 in the rear 3/4 view.

Seems as if the Volvos have finally found their way west in the tanker fleet.  I saw several today on Pittsburgh's Neville Island, where here and across the river on the "mainland" in Coraopolis are several large tank farms, resulting in a constant stream of tankers.
