I didn't even know you could get them with side stacks! Awesome!

Was reading a post on Facebook about the TMC 579's and a driver from TMC spoke up and said that the driver side exhaust is a dummy.  :-\

Thinking real strong of doing the dummy-stack thing on my 50 KW. All it will ever do is idle over to ATHS shows, & single stack always sounds better. Exception to that is 2 exhaust manifolds, one per stack, so no "Y".
If you don't ask, they can't say no.

I know it looks better but, why would you waste money to buy an extra dummy stack? I mean it does nothing and it adds a little drag to a fleet truck.

If I remember correctly, TMC's initial 579s ordered had the dummy stacks and as the order has progressed into newer model years, they now come included with both functioning exhaust.  Maybe single exhaust was the only option available at the time Peterbilt introduced the 579 and has later been revised.

Either way they sure do look sharp for being 579's.  Too bad others don't follow in their footsteps.

Very nice looking rig for a aero truck even with dummy stack it will give the driver something to polish in his spare time.   Bob.

Dummy left hand stacks have been common for several years on the traditional cabs too.. with all the emissions equipment, it became difficult to route the pipes to the DPF without running a-foul of something under the cab - so a dummy stack and a pipe that terminates under the cab provides symmetry.    My mind tells me the customer should just eliminate the left air cleaner, do with a single RH exhaust and go with a 70's look.

Just read a news article that TMC ordered another 1500 Peterbilt 579s in a multi year agreement.

I'll have keep my eyes peeled.  All the 389s they ordered awhile ago went through Allstate Peterbilt in South St Paul MN.

Black and chrome sure does look good! Way to much of a hassle to keep clean> IMO.

You can definablely say it's a hassle to keep clean again, Especially if you live in Northern State like and you are extreme neat freak, As for the Peterbilt 579's, R.F. Chamberland also finally ordered some back in 2014, By the end of this year, they should have a Total of 45 Peterbilt 579's in the Fleet, They plan to get rid of what's left in the of Peterbilt 387's, with the exception of one of them and they will probably also sell one of the last older Peterbilt 386's this year, Their First Peterbilt 579 was a 50th Anniversary 579 and also has a dummy stack on the drivers side, As far as Black & Chrome goes, I know how much of a hassle it is to keep, I own a 2007 Ford F-150 that's like that and this Summer it's getting painted and I can tell you one thing for sure, it isn't going to stay Black, It might look good, but, sometimes it's not worth the hassle
