I love catching old trucks on my trips. :) Caught a quartet (3 Jimmys & a Chevy) on the way home along US 13 yesterday from Elizabeth City NC that i'd like to share.

Rob

You are indeed correct on the "Moose" bar call.....I would not want to be the unlucky moose. ;D As far as the "Florida Specials" go they are unique aren't they? ??? ::) Hope to catch a few more on some upcoming trips.

Now for the train trip. It was fun.....and different. I boarded in Rocky Mount NC at the restored train station (pretty nice) and took "The Carolinian" to Trenton NJ. It's an Amtrak train but CSX owns all the tracks AFAIK so freight rules the day. The route included about 10 stops (Ashland VA,Richmond VA,QuanticoVA,Washington,Baltimore,Philly & Trenton before ending in NYC).There's a 1/2 hour stop in Washington DC to switch engines from diesel to electric.

I did get a pic of this CSX unit that was delivering freight cars to different plants in Rocky Mount while I waited for my train.

Nice shot Charlie! I've ridden the Northeast Regional from DC to Boston, it would've been nicer but it was an o/n trip and I was trying to sleep the whole time which those cars aren't made for.

Also I disagree, those tracks go right by my house and it seems like Amtrak always gets priority over CSX. They run a ton of Amtrak south out of Union Station so maybe there was a lot of traffic on the rails that day. And btw it would've been DC where they swap from diesel to electric.
