Vesuvio Foods - Edison NJ
« on: October 03, 2011, 11:34:51 AM »
Took this picture back around 1999 when I was working for an Italian restaurant in Troy NY.  Vesivio is from Edison NJ, and since I've been away from the East Coast, I wanted to see if any of you fine folks may have some newer pictures of Vesuvio's trucks?  At the time, I think they only had the 1 tractor trailer.

I drive by Vesuvio Foods everytime i'm up in Raritan Center taking photos. Unfortunately they put a fence around the shipping/receiving area a couple of years ago and that was the end of getting truck photos on their property. >:( I know i have a couple of older Macks from a while back which i'll try to dig up and post later. This must have flown under the radar........US Foodservice acquired them back in July. :o

Mack CH i shot in early January 2007 before Vesuvio fenced in the property. A couple of months ago this truck was parked on a street behind the warehouse but by the looks of i'm not sure it's used as more than a shunter. :-\

USF must have gone a buying spree this year as they also bought Ritter Food Service, a Mt. Joy, PA-based company (that I think had ties to Pennfield Feeds).

That Mack looks like hell.  Cool looking, but like hell. :P  I haven't seen this fleet before.  I guess I'll have to look out for old equipment hooked to US Food Service trucks now... :-\
The foot turned to the horse, the horse to the carriage, the carriage to the train, and the train to the truck.

Reminds me of Ferraro Foods, having a full size 72"+ sleeper cab doing foodservice drops. Takes some talent to do that ;D

I took the photo back when I wasn't 100% knowledgeable about how to properly photograph things....so I spliced two photos to get this one...I always thought this was a cool set up too.  I used to talk to the driver all the time, really nice fella, he was Polish, we used to talk about Polish foods, my grandma is 100%...haha
