I assume the truck driver did not make sure the 5th wheel jaw was locked and you can see what happened next..........

I see this all 2 often. Only takes a second to visually inspect that the jaws are fully locked. CSA 2010 will eventually weed out these lazy unsafe drivers.

What's worse is that the truck is from Florida. So that's an international mess for 'Horstmeyer Farm & Garden' to deal with.

 My step daughter and her husband are both Toronto paramedics. As soon as we heard this news report, we called to make sure neither of them were involved.
 Checking for a proper conection is vital. Know your fifth wheel type, and how to ensure it is properly latched! Also important to know how to detect a fifth wheel worn past it's useable life.
CBC radio news, to their credit, stressed that this is an extremely rare occurrence.
