MERRITT TO VANCOUVER LOGGING TRUCK CONVOY
« on: September 25, 2019, 11:59:37 PM »
Last night I heard on the news that a logging truck convoy was scheduled to leave from Merritt BC to Vancouver to protest the poor situation for the industry. Many lumber mills have recently closed up affecting the northern region and interior communities so the reason to make a statement! And, a statement was made, trucks from as for north (as I know) as Mackenzie to Hope and nearby(?) trucked through the region, 238 trucks all downtown by 3:30 4:00, yes, the politicians took note AND the general public reaction was quite favorable despite the interruptions!! They were scheduled to come by the Langly region around 1:00 O'clock so I took my lunch, headed up to the freeway and ate there, around 1:30 the convoy began!!
I tired to shoot as many as I could, here a few randoms for now, I will be adding to this as time goes by!!

The first one I managed, this KW T800 Peterbilt 367, I might have missed a few up front as I scrambled to get into my pickup box for the show

thre were some randoms in the lane too, the cattle hauler might have been part of it? Then another 367

Western Star 4900 tri-drive tridem logger

KW T800H tri-drive tandem tandem

Western Star 4900 SBA tir-drive tandem/tandem

Kenworth T880 tir-drive tandem/tandem

KW W900 tri-drive tridem

Kenworth T800H, no pole

Coranado 122SD

more to come

I don't why the pics are coming up so much bigger suddenly, I'm doing exactly the same process I've have been doing for months now, no rhyme or reason I guess!! A few more I had to post yesterday but the day got late, this fine KW W900 tri-drive tandem/tandem continues the convoy

here we have an fLD 120 SBA tri-drive

this sharp Western Star 4900 with short bunk has a banner on the front that reads "MacKenzie Matters", there was a space between groups so I think they had them in order of regions? I have not been posting them that way as I just picked a few different ones to get going.

I know this one was also in the MacKenzie group, a unique paint scheme Western Star 4900

Got to load up more pics, continue later

Wow, some super cool rigs.! :o
Hate to hear that the logging industry is having issues, hopefully everyone can work together to improve the situation as a whole. Gotta have that wood, it's in practically everything!
Anyway, nice series of some sharp rigs. 8)

Thanks Lance and Wreckerman, more coming up!

Here we have a basic workhorse KW T800 tri-drive tandem/tandem, very common set up I see

one in red

followed by a KW W900 set up the same

add a small bunk, tri-drive and tridem for this W900

sharp Peterbilt with no sign of logging specs, maybe he hauls lumber?

bright Western Star 4900 SBA with no trailer

I think it's safe to say Kenworth rules in the logging business here

Can't really make up my mind if this is a KW T800H or T800W but it does look rugged :)

just about missed this fine W900 in Seminole paint. I need to zoom in and see wher he is from, if the banner on the cab tells the story.....later tho

here is another one I need to zoom in on to see....later

this is a different set up, tandem drive, single with tridem?? The 378 seems to be having his hood redone

this KW T800 is tri-drive, single/tandem

time to upload a few more....soon

Jim

Some nice equipment for sure but I doubt it will do any good to get their plight recognised.
The Provincial Government is probably like the one we just got rid of in Ontario.
Urban focused and completely against resource extraction.
I won't go further about stupid as*hole politicians.
Where do those Urbanites think the money comes from for all the services they demand?
Including...Bike lanes..... >:( >:( >:(

looks like we got us a convoy.......KW T800 tri-drive tall coffin bunk

followed by a 389 Pete tractor

and a Western Star 4900 SBA tri-drive single/tandem

same as above with tandem/tandem in blue/white, similar to another earlier

lots of black sets off this KW T880 tri-drive tandem/tandem

a Kenworth T800H tandem drive with tridem pole trailer gives variety

this sharp Kenworth W900L with feed trailer might not have been in the convoy but it is in the convoy lane so why not!

Western Star is quite likely #2 truck maker in the logging industry from what we see here, this one a tandem tractor

another 4900 SBA tri-drive tandem/tandem, there were two of these I seen

Peterbilt 367(?) highhood tri-drive tractor only, seems the most popular choice for Peterbilt buyers

a Peterbilt 567 tri-drive and tandem/tandem i just about didn't catch ???

another Western Star 4900SBA in tractor only format

time to load p another batch!!

Ok Bernie, thanks, good to know! I had not idea how to call them really, what about the ones that have tri-drive, a single and a tandem, are those tri-tri's?

Another batch of logging trucks, there are quite a few that looked like doubles so I won't post all pics, hopefully anyone's truck NOT included won't be offended, so continuing on with the pics, not in any order, Reliable Towing in convoy

and along come a Peterbilt 367 high hood

up next, a KW T800

KW t800 short bunk

another KW T800, this one being a tri-drive tridem

a Peterbilt 378 tri-drive changes it up a bit

KW T880 gets a side profile catch

impressive KW W900 tri-drive/tridem

another W900 tri-drive/quad

Peterbilt 367 tri-drive/quad follows up

the mighty KW from LeBaeu of Prince George

that rounds off another set, there are more!

Jim.
