This outfit came from up Rick Sousas' way so i'm hoping he can give us the low down if it's still around or not. Used to see them up in north Jersey usually running these older Volvo sleepers.

Waiting to unload in Bayonne NJ on 3-10-03.

They were also fairly common around the Hunts Point Market in the 70's. All I used to see was single axle daycabs-White 4000's and medium hood Road Bosses. Even back then they were pulling Great Dane dry boxes just like the one in the picture.

Edit: IIRC the name Pat Izzi was on the tractor doors.

Hey Guys,

Izzi trucking ending up being sold / spun off to another company in RI.  Not sure of the full story but two of the brothers started their own outfit , Commodity Haulers Express based out of North Kingstown, RI.  They run mostly bagged coffee and other food items as well as dry freight.  Nice group of folks.  When I visited their "terminal" a couple years ago they still had the tractor below but with IZZI stripped off and their scac code of CXSI added to the door.  They ran a little over 20 trucks, all trailers are leased through Eagle Leasing with 1 or 2 having their name on it.  Tractors are a mixed bags as they are all owner ops and trailers are 53' Vanguards and Wabash's

Charlie if I send you some pics by e-mail could you post them?

Jay

Thanks Jay for the pic of the Commodity Haulers Express FL Century. :-) Certainly not as colorful as an Izzi rig though. :-(
