Nov. 8, 1949,  One week after the big grand opening of the new highway on Friday night there was a 2 to 3 ft. dump of snow.  This was not good for the Government since after the opening and blowing their own horn no one knew where the keys were for the plow trucks.  The only keys that could be found were for the 2 Sicard blowers.

Sicard snow blower. Left Jack Milne Princeton shop forman and Art Lees Cloverdale shop forman. The Sicard snow blowers were used when a big dump of snow came down, and to blow a snow wind row off the road shoulder to make room for the plow trucks when more snow would come.

Two Sicard snow blowers.  There were screens in front of the blowers as the blowers were left running to show the public how they work and did not want to let any one get hurt. There were two blowers and I can not find out the size on them .

i believe i have recent pics of 1 of those bullnose kw snowblowers. i think it is still located close to princeton... amazing it manage to stay this long!
if i find the pic. i'll post it on this thread. i have lots of recent pics of some of these old trucks, sitting in retirement in fields all over B.C.. i have read through all 14 pages of this post. amazingly i know of quite a few of them that are still in exsistance, littered all over this fine province. seeing these trucks like new in pictures, and then seeing them in real life 40-50 years later, is quite something. i'm only 29yrs old. and i feel as if i know these trucks because i have sat in and seen some of these exact trucks over the past couple of years.all in the relative areas where they started life. fascinating!!! i'll have to dig out my huge selection of old truck pictures taken from ME, in this province...i have them on cd in storage somewhere...
great thread!!! :-D

James the 57 Diamond T is in Keremeos, in May 2004 Ralf sold the truck to Steve there, myself and 2 others moved the truck.  There is a hole in the oil pan and the truck has not run for 15 years now. There is a title for the truck. I was the last person to move or drive the truck.  I had a runaway with it and ended up in the ditch.  I can say the big white steering wheel might still have my finger prints on it.  We were up at Ralph's place and a Cat 950 loader pushed me out to the road and then we hooked up a chain from the truck to the loader.  Started down a 5% grade the loader was in low gear and made a steering change so it was a little jerky and I did not saftey wired the chain so for a second there was some slack in the chain and it unhooked.  In 2 truck lengths you would not believe how much speed I picked up.  In 10 truck lengths I was past some rocks and power pole in the ditch so I stuffed the Diamond  in a ditch.  I will forever remember the lack of noise no motor or brakes just wind and my voice. 20 mph does not sound like much but it is when one looks down the road and sees only 1 or 2 options and one is picking up speed fast.  I guess it was fun now and I would not want to do again.

Will look for a picture with the truck on the low bed after the dust and mud settled.

yes i knew it was in keremeos along with a bunch of others. i just didn't want to say it on here... some things get destroyed when too many people find out about them...
i remember spending a few hours talking to old mr. frank m. ... it was a great visit and nice to talk to and spend time with him... those are his and his son's projects and are not for sale! he said... he didn't even want me to try and buy a couple of small things from him for my truck... it's just not for sale he said... i go back 1 time every year, but never see anyone close by, so i keep on truckin"... I sure could use a few small things for my truck...

i wonder how frank is? he was getting on pretty good a few years back??? great man, great stories....
i also know of alot more trucks than that as well, but i choose to keep those a secret, so that a person who REALLY appreciates them will discover them, instead of vandals....

cheers hanky

I never hauled many of that type vehicle but a lot of the weight is in the tracks and the under carriage.  the trailer reminds me of an old U.S. Army trailer. They used to sit high like that and I did move a lot of those around.
