Walmart Canada:
« on: December 16, 2009, 04:56:00 PM »
Walmart Canada is based in Mississauga, Ontario. They have their truck transport contracted to Roff Logistics of Brampton, Ontario.
I don't know about the U.S., but all the non food loads are drop&hook in Central and Eastern Canada.

This is a unit at the Vaughan, Ontario location:

Bingo.

Neat pictures, but Wal-Mart has so many contractors these days, I couldn't tell you what they do.  I'll tell you what, though, that Mack Vision and Stoughton trailer combo sure are nice looking, even though they're corporate white. 8-)

Well in Central and Eastern Canada, Walmart only has the one contract with SCM doing logistics and Roff moving the trailers. SCM subcontracts the far north runs to some carriers, but Roff is primary.

Hahaha! True you are!

I actually said it like that because I thought you guys would be surprised that they were part of the LCV trial.

I missed this post when you made it last week.
I'm sure that Wal*Mart's carrier is front and centre in the LCV trials. HBC Logistics and Crappy Tire are too.

Wal*Mart does not run their own trucks here in Canada. They don't run their own DC. All that is subcontracted to a 3PL.

Please remember that, just like in LTL, operations here in Canada are different than in the States.

It's true that Walmart doesn't technically own SCM or Roff, but the way they do business, it's almost one in the same. Anywhere Roff goes to do backhauls, they get priority. That is due to Walmart Canada's direct involvement with the vendors.

Living here in Kitchener I see there rigs quit often and I got to say they run a boring fleet. ( Color wise anyways ). I don't drive but my dad says they anoying to drive behind because they can't go very fast. But thats his opinion.

Rob, I do not work for Roff.

The thing about trucks going fast or not in Ontario, is that they are all limited to 105. So if there is a complaint from a truck driver about that, their rig is not running legal.......

That's a really great picture Rob.  A good example of when the "clutter" can actually enhance the photo.
