The Bobber Truckstops were good places to stop.  There was one in Effingham, IL and one in Missouri.

Dave faust sent me this excellent picture to post, a Churchhill Brigadier was at the Effingham location.

I seem to remember stopping at a Bobber down on 44 in Missouri.
