Looking for photos of tandem steer wreckers
« on: July 14, 2009, 02:22:20 PM »
I have an itch to build a tandem steer wrecker (1/24th scale).
I'm looking for some inspiration.  Any make will do.

Thanks!

WOW!  Some of those are absolute beasts!  They all appear to be pretty new too.  I saw 75 tons on the side of one of them.  Any of these pull more than that?

The Yellow T800 is owned by Big Wheels Recovery out of Boston, Ma area and it is  Jer-Dann 85 ton Rotator. And so is the White and Blue Pete owned by HTS Recovery in Florida. Also the Red T800B? is also an 85ton. Then I am not sure on the White with blue checkered but I know it is built by B&B not sure on the tonnage though, it is located California( hence so many axles so it can scale.)
Yes they are fairly new since rotators are have become more popular in the last few years. I would say most of these are maybe 2 or 3 years old at the very max.
Also the reason they are almost all speced the same is most of them except the two mentioned about are built by Century and are the 5X Rotator series that I belive you can only get on the t800 chassis.
