Both Sides Of The Border Trucking
« on: June 12, 2009, 01:08:04 PM »
First day of vacation (June 1) i caught some trucks on the NY Thruway west of Syracuse and a bunch of Canadians on the 401 in London ON passing by the motel i stayed at. Between rain & dreary skies in NY and then fighting the bright sun in London i really was not pleased at the photo quality given the variety of unique trucks seen in this area. Hope some enjoy despite the lousy pics.

London ON traffic.

A couple of pikers and a beer hauler in NY.

The last Western Star is a Sleeman's Breweries....Not CJ though :-(

Thanks Ray.  I was happy to catch a Sleeman's truck...........but the place we had dinner at didn't carry the brand.  :-( I did however get to stop at Timmy's a few times............but didn't see any trucks.

By the way Charlie, did you notice that your New York State beerhauler is actually BR Smith hauling a Labatts trailer. He probably started his day in London where you finished your's.

I have to admit, those Wegmans Volvos are growing on me.  Looks like Price Chopper is going to Cascadias to replace ther Sterlings.

Oh yeah Gary I was at their DC last week..All the old sterlings with the white steel wheels are sitting with decals removed..the only sterlings left are the newer 08's with the polished aluminum wheels.Their Cascadias are Cool looking.

I really like this one:

Also, this LightSpeed FL is a rare one.  I've not seen a daycab for this company (I know I wouldn't expect to) and a rare model to boot!

Hey Charlie......I know, its been a while since you posted this but I checked this out and noticed the first one you took is of ECL-Elgin Cartage Limited- they got their start about 3 miles from where you were standing shooting, Elgin County is where you shot them and they used haul grain with R Model Macks with sleeper boxes on some, real cool stuff! Now the are bought out by Laidlaw ( I think) and that is a unit hauling trash!

The Dalton Pete is sure a winner! Nice shots!

;)  Safe Travels Charlie, Do Enjoy the Scenery on this side of the 49th....Surprisingly when you Google a Route to the Prairie's from Ontario your directed to cross at Sault Saint Marie,Ontario into the States then back up into Canada below Manitoba....
