JP's scheme looks great. I would paint the front white and the rear spokes blue with white rims.

I really like that black stripe in there, too!

Hi, Ryan...

I think the wheels should be shiny aluminum or chrome if not painted...

If painted,  white with blue accents. or blue with white accents.

A blue or white frame would work fine, too.

Something like this?

That would be prototypical for that era of truck.

I've been considering doing a thick black stripe in the middle where the blue and white meet.

how about a royal blue(dark/navy) where the blue and white meet?

EDIT: but a pinstripe tho

Hello Peterbilttrucker,

I can't give you a new paintscheme, but for me, the light blue and white from JP with that black stripe has the "real" classic US-look!!!!! Will match also your Ford pick-up!!!
BTW, I am very sorrow for what happened you with that one!!! Very happy, nothing happened to your personally and I hope you will and can rebuild that Ford again!!! That trucker that helps you deserverse a "medall" for doing that!!!

I have seen a Diamond Royale once, somewhere between Seattle and Vancouver in the 90's, I wasn't able to take a good picture, first I thought seeing it, "just" a KW K-100 untill I saw what it really was!!! No time for pick up my camera anymore!!!
For me, those Diamonds, Hayes and Marmon Trucks were always the "real salt in the soup", same like we have in Holland our FTF, Ginaf and Terberg Trucks or the Finnish Sisu, Swiss Saurers and Austrian Steyr's!!!

Hope you will and can go on with these "projecs", already looking forward to the "end-result"!!! BTW, that JP paintscheme is also a wonderfull scale-modell idea!!!!!

Best wishes and greetings from Emmerich am Rhein, Germany,

The DAFman, Leo

PS, my old company I used to drive for has 2 restored DAF's in there old livery!!! A DAF A-1600 straight truck with canvas body and a FT-2600 2 axled tractor!!! Both running and working on some local trips!!! I have to "dive" in my archive for good pictures!!!
Deceased.

Thanks! It's funny you mentioned that you thought the one you saw was a Kenworth. When I first spotted my Reo off the highway, I turned the truck to go get a picture and said "don't be mad, I see something cool". He laughed and said "what, it's just a Kenworth". Also, when I printed a picture to take into work after I bought it, two guys there thought it was just a Kenworth too. I guess I can KINDA see some Kenworth-ish features. :-P

Lets go one further....I used an old KW COE K100 VIT sketch which I modified into the REO. Believe it or not....the proportions of the cab are almost identical...Very easy to confuse the two from a distance....until you look closer, of course.

Why not something simple like this one from Ontario...

I reckon it would look sweet with a red chassis

I've seen that one from Ontario! Beautiful truck, but I wouldn't want to copy his paint scheme real closely. I love it, but I want something more my own.

Here's a drawing on Paint that I pretty much did from scratch today (I used a frame I drew years ago though)... haven't drawn anything for quite a long while, so it is what it is. Pretty well decided on how to paint the cab, but there's a few different options for frame, tank, and wheel colors that I can't form a solid opinion on. Here's some of the ideas I threw together, but there are a lot more possibilities I'm sure. Any of you guys have an opinion on these?

I posted thumbnails because when you post the full size image, it gets pixelated.
