White Trucks of The 1950's
« on: April 08, 2009, 06:47:02 PM »
I got my copy of White Trucks of The 1950's today. What a great book.
Most of The Iconografix books  I have are loaded with builders photo's, not
this one. Most of the pictures in this book  are either taken on the road, at a truck stop or at
a loading dock.  There are quite a few pictures of all the old national and regional
carriers that all of us old guy's knew or worked for and are now Fallen Flags
Bob did a good job on all The White models from the 50's in the book
This book makes a fine addition to any trucking library.

Got mine in the mail today. I'm happy to see some of Russ MacNeil's pics in it.

If Russ McNeil's pictures are in it; they can't be from the 50's.
Russ took his pics in the 70's.

His pics were taken in the 70's but the most of the trucks in the photos are from the late 50's and 60's.

Picked my copy up at Barnes & Nobles today and must say, after a fast looksee, am very impressed. :) Truck pics aren't from some company archive but rather taken au natural on the road or at a dock which brings some life to the pics IMO. 8) Cool to see photos from several folks who had collections on Hanks Truck Pictures ( Russ McNeil, Jim Hurley, Fred Gruin Jr., Bill Bedell and Doug McKenzie). Looking forward to spending more time with the book in the next few days.....i'd call it a must buy for a collection.

The author also mentioned Hank Suderman for having the coolest web page on the internet. ;D How right he is!!!! 8) 8) 8) Just hope Hank can get it back up & running when he gets back from vacation....no idea how much I miss it. :( :'(

You're not talking about this book are you?

I have had this one for quite a few years so I suppose you must be talking about a new publication? This one is fantastic too though!

OK, good to know, I thought there were 2 different books out there, clearly I don't have the 2nd one that does not really exist then! It is beauty, I always pack my books when we go to a cabin for the weekend.....I know, it's a disease.....always say to the wifey, yeah but.....there won't be any trucks in those remote regions and then there usually is one or more to find anyway!
