Mean Green 352 Machine
« on: October 03, 2008, 02:21:50 PM »
I came up on this slick 79 Pete while heading north on 77 through Charlotte N.C.  Played some leapfrog and got off the road ahead of him a few times for pictures.

Don't know why I didn't roll the window down for this shot

Huh, two cabovers...

A couple of moving shots I got when I was able to beat him to a couple of rest areas.

Do you have a CB in the car Paul?  :? A lot easier to just raise 'em on the 2 way like Diesel Fumes & have 'em pull in for a shoot then playing leap frog on the highway.

A little while later when I was at the Flying J in Wytheville, Va, I happened to see him across the highway on the far side of the pumps at the Wilco Hess.  Ran over, got some pictures, and when I was shooting the truck behind him, the driver came out and climbed in.  Got to talking for a while, he even climbed down twice, having to move out the way for the rig behind him.  Real nice guy, T.J. Neuenswander from N.C.  He was a younger guy, I joked with him about driving an old man's truck, and he siad he was only 3 yrs older than the tractor.  IIRC, he hauls LTL from N.C. to Ohio and Mi. every week, and has time to visit with family in Ohio on his trips.

Plans for the near future include stretching the frame six feet and adding full rear fenders.  He's also going to paint the trailer to match, the current color went with his previous truck, a W900L.

I thought it looked pretty cool sitting in front of the conventional with the classic paint scheme.

Well Done!!! Nice coverage, Paul... I like these on-highway shots, the right side close-up is simply smashing, just look at the door handle... this is a different era... S W E E T

Thanks Art.  That right side shot was in a construction zone, so he had to travel in the left lane, I'm actually passing him.  I thought the aluminum step pocket was a nice touch.

Now thats a ltl reefer hauler.  Bet he doesn't encounter too many places he cant get into.  Very nice truck.  Hopefully there will be pictures abound when the truck is finished.  :-)

Awesome! He's running the right kind of setup too. LTL freight with a cabover pulling a reefer should keep him going pretty well.

Great pics, I'm hoping we'll get to see the finished truck.
