Rebuilding a C15 question???
« on: December 14, 2007, 09:14:01 PM »
Hi all,

Just a quick question from Brisbane Australia.

I'm looking at buying a 2000 Argosy with a f*#%ed Cat C15 (921k) 18sp.

My question is does anyone know how much a C15 is to rebuild? I would think it would need a out of chassis build but not sure?

I was thinking around AUS$20k-$30k but again not sure. :?

Thanks heaps for any help/suggestions

Just a wild stab in the dark but is this the same 2000 model Argosy with the blown C15 CAT?

Find a profession and make it your obsession then you’ll never work a day in your life.

Quite possible is that one up for auction?

My boss is looking at it for me and has asked me to find out what sort of costs are involved in a rebuild. I am yet to see it.

Have you heard what sort of price a rebuild goes for?

Saw a few of these in Pures Yard in Brisbane when they got them..

Looked like they have had driver after driver through them..

Pretty rough looking they where.

Nothing worse than a truck that has god knows how many drivers most of which don't give a shit about the truck or don't know how to drive it!!!

Hi,

Here's just a rough estimate going off the Detroit S60 PowerUp Rebuild brochure - anywhere upwards of $15000 for a basic in-chassis overhaul up to about $30000 for a remanufactured engine! All cylinder liners, pistons, rings and conrods need to be replaced, as does the turbo, injectors and injection pump. I know a bloke who has a 3208 in a Leader MidRanger and she sh@t herself here about a year ago - it was the third engine to go in 12 months at the time!

Just my 2 bobs worth!
