First Snow in Eastern Ontario
« on: November 25, 2007, 06:01:49 PM »
Well Wednesday and Thrusday where a good test of the driving skills for another season! Here are some road shots from those 2 days. The first 2 are of a unit that turned into a driveway from the hwy. and flipped over just east of Carleton Place loaded with lumber. The next few shots are from the Carp Rd landfill where the landfill is closed very often because of high winds and when compounded with the snow is very low visibility.  There is a shot climbing up the hill to dump and also one down the hill it is steep and has a 90 degree turn 3/4 of the way up and also a 90 degree at the bottom, it is usually well graded and sanded. The picture of the Scaletta rig was taken as I was waiting for the scales to open he couldn't make the turn into the landfill and was against the fence and a small stone wall so a loader was dispatched to try to push the trailer over but this didn't work these guys gross in the area of 60,000 kg or (130,000lbs plus) so they shut the road down so he could back out and take another run at the entrance 3rd time he made it.  Thanks for looking, Steve.
