It certainly isn't new equipment, but I figure its worth noting. I seen a CWX FLD sleeper today pulling 2 rebranded Con-Way trailers this morning, still going strong after all these years and miles.

I sure hope you've been a good little boy Nate cause when Santa brings you that digital camera we'll all be able to look at a classic like that.  8-)  :-D :-P

I've been extra good for Santa Charlie, though I wouldn't have been able to snap a picture, it was about 23 degrees out and I was battling ice as thick as my head.

My local UPS substation got about 15 of the GMC white Penske box trucks in on Thursday or Friday.

Not a "new" sighting but a confirmation.
Speedy Transport hauling a USF Holland long trailer. USF is remaining with Speedy to do the Toronto area local deliveries.

The new trucks are in at UPS Freight. 2008 Volvo's, 385 horse, 10 speed Eaton Fuller, Am/Fm/mp3 players, no jake, no passenger seat, but really nice driver seats, nice tractors. Damn hood release is attached to the steering column between the brake and the steering wheel, hard to find if you dont know where it is.

I'd say trade the "mp3" for a Jake.

Yeah, Nate, for how you're describing this, I don't see how it could be a nice tractor. It sounds like a stripped down cheapo piece of crap. Just my opinion. About the only thing it has going for it is the MP3 player.....

They'll buy 3 or 4 jakes per truck in the amount of brakes they use.

I'd almost trade air ride for a jake.  :|

Their decent trucks, dont get me wrong, they are well spec'd out, and are a pleasure to ride in, just need a jake, thats it, who cares about power, I dont, just need jake.

I'm just saying that between no jake and no passenger seat, it sounds like it's pretty stripped.

Well, I guess I'll just wait for the pics.

Lotsa freight trucks didn't have a passenger seat back in the day.
You're not supposed to have a passenger in the truck anyways.

That's pretty much standard on LTL trucks, road or city.  When I was at Red Star, only one road tractor had a passenger seat, it was used as the training tractor for thruway doubles drivers, and one city tractor at each terminal had a passenger seat, so that salesman could ride along on the P&D routes.

If you got lucky you had one of those pull down jump seats which was ordered as an option.
