New trucks
« on: September 03, 2007, 12:32:04 PM »
Since I am thinking about retirement, a friend asked me about driveing and I went for a trip. :-D  Haveing driven busses for the last 29 years and not driven a truck since the early 90's.  I can say that the new trucks are a #1 truck the improvements since the 90 Star with a 425 Cat and 15 speed.

The truck today was a 2006 KW 650 hp cat 18 speed a total of 7 axles.  It was quiet, pulled great, cruise controll is excellent, if I decied to retire soon, I will want to drive a newer truck over an old one no doubt.  As much as I love the old Pacific and Hayes trucks I used to drive I am in LOVE with the new trucks.

Have not made my mind up for sure yet.  I know I want to but the benifit package I have is pretty good.  I only worked 8 days this summer the rest were off with vacation, still have 267 hrs of banked time off comeing.  I am thinking of  all kind of things now.

I guess I am tired of the same job and started in 1978 here, still the driveing from 71 to 78  was the best times.  Man thoses newer trucks are great.

It is a W-900 with a big Cat twin turbo, 18 speed, tri-drive.   Pulling a 3 axle Tiatan walking flour trailer.  Taking hog fuel from Princeton to Chillwack, driveing time is only 5 hrs or so loading is 1 more hr. Just a nice short day for a old boy like me.
