I kinda like this one. whay do all them end up for sale?

Let's see...how about MONEY? This truck is worth more because it's been on that show. The owner is simply takking advantage of that noteriety and cashing in on it while he can...five years down the road it would just ne another truck.

As far as the other comment about "going to a good home"...it's a truck! Just another piece of iron...there are plenty more around every corner.

Well when somebody "gives" you $50,000 worth of truck modifications it counts as INCOME, yes thats right income, so you have to pay taxes on it.

So maybe he can't afford the taxes?

Trucks not worth 50K, too old and too high mileage, paint means NOTHING if its not your style.

You don't really "win" things like that without uncle Sam getting involved, maybe they haven't been caught yet.

A teacher from my neighborhood was on Jeopardy a few years ago, the IRS was backstage, his winnings were taxed ON THE SPOT, he brought home what was left.

ANYTHING with a monetary value above a certain amount (I think 10K) is considered taxable INCOME, same as when you paint your truck, YOU can tax deduct it, someone paints it for you THEY tax deduct it.

Winnings, earnings........same thing according to the govt.........go to Atlantic City sometimes, win big..see what happens.

Yet!!! Talked to our tax accountants in work today about this. If it was gifted then TMT paid ; if not the driver pays. Bottom line is someone's gonna ante up to Uncle Sam sooner or later.

He is already paying taxes on the truck from original purchase so how can he be taxed for a new paint job that was donated by a company that will use that as a write off anyway?  I could see if they handed him $50k cash but they handed him his truck back with a fresh paint job and newly added accessories.  Now with the sale of the truck, he would get taxed for that but don't see no other reason why he would.

the guy who caught barry bond's record breaking home run ball, is going to have to pay between $200k-$600k, because it holds a value.

those guys get taxed

Regardless of the tax situation, that is one nice truck, and definitely one of the few Trick my Truck rigs that doesn't have an overdone theme. Sharp KW.

You answered your OWN question there, if someone writes it off, then someone else HAS to pay the taxes.

When you "write something off" such as fuel and tolls or repairs, all that means is you don't pay tax on THAT amount.

If they "donate" it they write it off, if you recieve it, you pay on the value, you actually could end up paying MORE than it was worth, because they could right off LIST price on the paint when they paid jobber (wholesale).

Unfortunately the way the IRS is set-up there are NO FREE rides...........NONE.
