Title: ANOTHER July 2019 visit to the 401 Updated July 28 2019
Post by: Rob Archer on July 22, 2019, 04:42:29 AM
I haven't had many opportunities to get Action Shots of the various carriers on the main roads of southern Ontario in 2019.
Sunday July 21 allowed me to take sme shooting time. My spot is rather weedy and overgrown. However; we will make the best of it and see what went past.

Leading off with an unknown Peterbilt as we tried the range and target.

Then; shifting a bit we got a Volvo for Everest Transportation of Caledon East. Caledon East is actually Brampton but just a little north.

Wheelking Transhaul was next. They are based in Milton. The first of many Cascadias.

Another Cascadia , this one from Stargate Logistics. They are from Mississauga last time I looked.

A Volvo daycab pulling a reefer marked for Saputo Cheese. I believe the cheese plant in Georgetown is owned by Saputo now.

Next up....
ET Transport coming out of Concord - (note I am always surprised with the number of communities that make up the GTA...Concord being one.)
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/cNNhhNNwz4ODwN/16280764.0/600/p/401-072119-006.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/cNNhhNNwz4ODwN/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16280764#16280764)
Flat deck with a roll tite and yes, another Cascadia.

Our first westbound Quebecois; Prince Logistics from Lachine. I don't think I've ever seen a tractor other than a Volvo for this fleet.
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/MTE4jMDA4wjjNM/16280765.0/600/p/401-072119-007.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/MTE4jMDA4wjjNM/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16280765#16280765)

I'm not sure about this next Cascadia - it appears to be another from Quebec. The darn weed hides the letting enough I can't read it .
Merci a Rene Buron  ;D for identifying Litbec; Top Bedding from Quebec.

A Kenworth is up next from True North Freight Solutions who are from Brampton.

Time to get the old weedwhacker out Mr. A. :) ;D

They might be "protected species"  ::) ;D

iHaul Trucking, another carrier from Beautiful Downtown Brampton, with a Volvo with a deer guard on his bumper.
http://ihaultrucking.com/index.html
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/W3z5TMLQYYTjEV/16280815.0/600/p/401-072119-011.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/W3z5TMLQYYTjEV/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16280815#16280815)

Next, another Cascadia, this time from Rajpura Transport from the Montreal suburb of Dorval.
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/TV2T3MNkNMLNR3/16280816.0/600/p/401-072119-012.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/TV2T3MNkNMLNR3/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16280816#16280816)

Another Cascadia - this one from ERB. Based in New Hamburg with a large terminal in Mississauga. Always unusual to see a tractor that isn't an International from ERB.
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/QzMjMzTLNMQmj3/16280817.0/600/p/401-072119-013.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/QzMjMzTLNMQmj3/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16280817#16280817)

Then we have a customized Peterbilt from  (somebody???) . The green on the black isn't the most visible lettering.
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/UMkRMMNRDMkjgD/16280818.0/600/p/401-072119-014.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/UMkRMMNRDMkjgD/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16280818#16280818)

Another Cascadia! That's about all I can tell about this one.

The ERB Cascadia is a sharp looking rig, even a Cascadia looks good washed and polished up and with a nice paint scheme. ;D
Speaking of polishing, looks like that black Pete could use some. ;)
Nice catches.

I see Prince a ton down here Rob, and I have yet to see anything other than an old VNL. They must've bought 'em in bulk. Nice catch on that Saputo cheese Volvo with the tridem too, looking forward to seeing those in a couple months.

I'm with Charlie on the Contrans, gotta shoot as many while they are still in the great colour scheme!! You're right about the ERB Freightliner, not a common truck for them, looks good though!

Jim.

Thanks for your comments.

Here is another uncommon tractor for the fleet it represents. Highlight Motor Freight usually runs Volvos doesn't it? I wonder if this Kenworth is a test unit
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/DkkUyDDjyZYyzD/16282990.0/600/p/401-072119-021.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/DkkUyDDjyZYyzD/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16282990#16282990)

Group Robert was an early adopter of solar panels on tractors. They were first used on the natural gas powered Peterbilts. I've seen pictures of them installed on Volvos and here is a Mack so equipped.
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/LmII5ZgZYmN5mY/16282991.0/600/p/401-072119-022.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/LmII5ZgZYmN5mY/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16282991#16282991)

Speaking of solar panels - there were several Kenworths from Bourassa headed to Quebec that had them installed. The sign ended up blocking the shot.
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/j1TzdD0MT0MZML/16282992.0/600/p/401-072119-023.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/j1TzdD0MT0MZML/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16282992#16282992)

Oh wait..here's another Cascadia . Eassons Transport from Kentville NS.
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/Mj2cYMMMLMQY1Z/16282993.0/600/p/401-072119-024.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/Mj2cYMMMLMQY1Z/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16282993#16282993)

From mere observation there are fewer older Freightliners on the road. Here is a Classic from Sunrise Freight of Mississauga .
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/ZMNNccyNMcE2U2/16282994.0/600/p/401-072119-025.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/ZMNNccyNMcE2U2/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16282994#16282994)

Greenway Carriers out of Brampton
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/TQD25MDQzjWMzc/16282995.0/600/p/401-072119-026.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/TQD25MDQzjWMzc/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16282995#16282995)

So we will finish with a Cascadia from what is the largest carrier in Canada now. NOT INCLUDING TRANSFORCE/TFI. CNTL has a lot of trucks on the road.
(https://bulk-share.slickpic.com/album/share/311NzOjTzwTMQl/16282996.0/600/p/401-072119-027.jpg) (https://www.slickpic.com/share/311NzOjTzwTMQl/albums/July-21-2019/photo?view=16282996#16282996)

That concludes the visit on Sunday July 21 2019.

Rob, I caught one a little over two years ago on I-79, back in April '17.  May have shot one on another occasion, but can't remember for sure.  Can you read the unit # on yours?  This one is 1127.

Man I really hope I can get a Laidlaw still wearing the old livery before they all disappear up north. That Pete food tanker looks great in those colors. And it's nice to see something other than a Volvo pulling for Highlight, I was getting tired of seeing those all the time. I'm excited to hopefully see some CN rigs up north too, they're a hard catch to find in the northern states it seems.

The Freightliner day cab which pull the Charger Logistics trailer is operated by RAV Cartage from Les Coteaux (qc).

http://ravcartage.com/long.html

Charger and RAV seems to be two faces of the same corporation Charger operating in Ontario, Quebec and South to the US and Mexico and RAV mainly throughout Canada.

There are several names on Charger Logistics trucks Rene.
I guess I should note what they are.

Anyways....I don't knwo whose Peterbilt is hauling the No Name grocery trailer but that's Loblaws so it's returning to Cambridge.
Once again, Rene comes through with an identification. Transport LFL from Boucherville QC so it could be a transfer between Quebec to Cambridge.

The Peterbilt hauling the No Name Loblaws trailer is another Québec carrier, LFL Transport which is located in Boucherville
close to one of the two huge Provigo/Loblaws Greater Montréal distribution centers.

The SBA Freightliner dumper sure is cool, don't see too many of them, especially with a sleeper.
I'm always a fan of wreckers, so the CAA Ford in the last shot is quite a cool catch. :)

Something more often seen on trucks that run the US southeast than here in Ontario.

That Garry Mercer 579 is the cream of the crop Rob. CanAMex and Cat.CA are a couple more I'm familiar with as I see them somewhat often. And nice catch on the International with the a/c unit, you're right that's an oddball one up north haha.

The C.A.T. rig looks cool, interesting to see the short hood Cascadia with the condo sleeper.
The burgundy Volvo is pretty sharp, the dual exhaust looks particularly spiffy. 8)
I'll second Partsman on the Mercer, that is a fine looking rig, and the Tim Horton's Cascadia looks good, too.
Cool catches all around. :)

And; here is the last batch of pictures from July 27.

ITS is based in Belleville ON. They have several yards throughout Ontario and Quebec.

Then we have a Sunbury trailer pulled by an outside carrier.

Erb with an older International. I wonder if this is basically a local truck now.

Kriska in a Columbia. This must be an owner op as I believe Kriska is still primarily an International fleet.

Purolator being hauled by a Challenger Cascadia. Puro has lots of its own power but sends some loads with outside carriers.

Tim Horton's with the single axle trailer is different, never seen one of those here, keeping them brown your way Rob? All I see here now is white ones.

Gary Mercer is sharp. Buddy with the IH and A/C unit must like his bunk cold!!

Jim.

Nice shots, the ERB IH looking particularly nice. 8)
Either the driver has pride in his rig, or the shop just got done with something, but those rear wheels on the ERB are really clean. You hardly ever see white steelies looking that bright and clean.
