I meant to post this on 911 but got busy with work & completely forgot so hope it's ok to do it now. It's a video about the boatlift that evacuated thousands of people from Manhattan (I was one of them) that I'm not sure many are familiar with. Worth the watch........enjoy. :)

Thanks for the post. And gratitude for stepping up to help!

This is really interesting, thank you for sharing Charlie. I had no idea this was even a thing until you posted this video. The logistics of moving that many people off Manhattan on 9/11 is something that never occurred to me, but this is an awesome example of people coming together as one to help everyone. Honestly some days it feels like 9/11 was the last time people were able to set aside their differences and work together. Really glad you shared this.

Thanks. ;) It's not something that ever got much attention but without it the only other way out of Manhattan was walking over one of the bridges which thousands of people did. I was lucky to get aboard a Circle Line boat at one of the midtown piers & get taken to Weehawken NJ around noon. It was quite a day and the weeks after just seemed to pull this country together for quite a while. :)

WOW! Truly amazing Charlie, glad you shared that here, never knew that was a part of the catastrophic moment. Glad you came off there alive!

Glad you enjoyed it Jim.............again not something many people knew about. The maritime community really stepped up & came to the rescue. I was uptown (50th & 11th) about 3 miles away so never really was in any danger..........just trying to get out was a hassle though.

Just the smoke and dust and uncertainty alone would have been enough to make for a nerve wracking day!! Did you mange to go on one of the ferries or by private boat?
Jim.
