Title: Draggin' Bellies 2017
Post by: peterbilttrucker on May 07, 2017, 08:11:12 AM
I'll just start a thread for this year's belly dump season...so far it's turning out to be a good year! Pretty busy, considering it's only May. Terry in 509 and I did the load out of Nipton, Nevada I mentioned in the other thread two weeks ago and ran that same job site again for three days, then got another landscape rock load out of Nevada, this one was from Beatty (Terry went with me again). I had last Sunday off and ran Brigham to Smithfield Monday, ran the Ogden trap haul Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and then Terry and I headed back to Beatty for even more landscape rock Friday (got home yesterday). Kinda hoping they keep ordering enough of that Nevada rock to keep giving us one load a week. I'm off today and excited to see what this week has in store for me, but I'm pretty sure that the next week I will be on site in Montello, Nevada with a single belly Monday through Friday, living in the truck and paid by the hour. I'm loving being back under my bellies again!

This is Ty. Twenty-one year old that just got his license. We're coaching him through double bellies now, but he's been running a super side and as you can see, he has a lot of ambition. 508 hasn't looked that good since it was new.

That orange Pete 362 cabover is from Alberta, haven't seen it in person ,just in pictures. Some real nice 379s in this series and love the old W900A longhood.Your truck is looking good as always.

I love those first two reefers; it seems like you see quite a few fancy reefers like that in your neck of the woods. 8)  Also interesting catch on the Western Distributing 567; that's news to me and further proof that the OTR, axle-forward model 567 is being taken seriously as an alternative to both the traditional square hood models and decked out versions of the T680 and 579.

Forward facing spread axle tandems? That look is the bees knees. Pretty much everything is neat here, love all the various dump truck setups and your rig is still looking mighty fine. I think you even caught a new 567 for Western too, that looks strikingly similar to the one I caught today north of Richmond. Gonna have to share that shot soon, man they are beauties when they're done right.

All the pics are great, the COE Peterbilt is very cool, as is the blue Pete with the spread reefer in the first pic, which appears to have a lift axle on the trailer interestingly. All of the Francis trucks are looking cool as usual, the new KW looks like it will be a great addition. Nice catch on the Western 567 as well. The lower, shorter trailer makes me think it is an armored USAC truck, but it's hard to tell.
Glad things are going well for you!

Jon

I think I ran the Ogden trap two days last week and South Weber to Kaysville one day (my job from last year), but I lucked out once and got to run two loads of rock to a batch plant in Soda Springs, Idaho and then Friday I did an overnight run to get a load of rock out of Nelson, Nevada. I run the Ogden trap tomorrow and then I'm off for a week to go to Des Moines for the big show!

Yeah, no kidding!  I know you only post the best of the best here, but still I never cease to be impressed by your catches.  I really wonder where these fancy reefers are from, as I haven't really seen much concentration of them anywhere else in person or even on the forum much, although granitefan713 did have a few from his trip out west last year.  I was able to read the name on the red and white 389 (my favorite of this batch, BTW), plug it into SAFER, and it's for Dave Kuker Trucking out of Spirit Lake, IA.  I'm sure not all of these are from there but it does seem there are quite a few nice ones based in Iowa. 8)

Hey guys, been awhile, really busy still. I did go to Des Moines for the antique truck show. WAY worth the trip. The Becksteads were able to help me out by letting me bring a load out on their new-to-them '99 Kenworth. Really nice truck with big power and really made me want an Aerodyne sleeper. Last week I ran a mix of the Ogden Parsons trap and the Ogden Kilgore plant with one load of rock to Dingle, Idaho on Saturday. So far this week, I'm running Smithfield (which is way nice).
Scarlett in Logan Canyon...needs a bath.

Worked six day last week again. A mix of the Ogden trap, Smithfield, South Weber, and a few loads of squeegee from Draper. Was able to try out the new truck wash here in town this week and they did pretty good, I'm excited to go again! Also took a picture of a couple more Beckstead trucks while I was up in Preston yesterday picking up my Diamond Reo.

I'm supposed to go live in Montpellier, Idaho for a couple weeks on a paving job hauling asphalt from Pocatello. I am hearing that I've got a paving job out in Park Valley on days off from the Idaho job as well, hauling the asphalt out of Brigham City and then we're supposed to start mixing in a little salt hauling to southern Idaho in July. Gonna be a busy year!

Looks like this new BS with Photobucket no longer allowing use of their site to post pics on a forum (unless you pay for a $400/month) got you too now.  None of your pics are showing anymore. :'(

Oh boy, it has been three crazy weeks! I've been doing a lot of paving, which has made for some REALLY long days, especially days when the hot plant or the paving crew breaks down. Living out of town a few days at a time in Pocatello, Idaho to finish up the Montpelier job on US30 was fun with a couple good friends up there with me. Big overlay job out past Park Valley, Utah on SR30 too...one day the shuttle buggy blew the motor and I had to bring the load of asphalt all the way back home to dump. Had some odd jobs in between too...got to haul a couple loads of rock out to a jobsite on Antelope Island and play with the bison, pronghorn, and deer...got a load of road salt to Hill Air Force Base...even brought a load of rock out of a new pit on Sardine Summit right to our yard. Of course, I also had the usual loads to Smithfield, Ogden, and squeegee from Draper. Had last Saturday off to cover a truck show in Idaho for Largecarmag, had this whole weekend off and spent part of yesterday polishing the grill shell on Scarlett, now I just have to take a load of road salt to Caldwell, Idaho tomorrow, have Tuesday off for the holiday, and Wednesday I'm going to Beatty, Nevada to pick up a load of decorative rock. Not really "local" with the bellies this year.

I'm really liking the Tilden 567 as well, and also the 362 cattle pot. 8)  BTW do you plan on eventually putting up your old pics again with Slickpic?  It would be nice to be able to see those again, but no pressure to do so, if you don't want to go through that pain I understand.

Thanks a lot Photof**kit for screwing countless forum and blog posts like this. >:( >:( >:(

Thanks guys! I'd love to take everything from my Photobucket and change over, but I know I'll probably never find the time...always struggling with the balance between work and home life.

Thirty bucks a YEAR for Slickpic? I suppose that is pretty affordable, haha.

Yeah, I got out and loved on the dog for a bit, made me miss my pooch at home while I was up there.

I totally understand if you don't want to do that.  It's a shame as you had some amazing stuff, but is certainly not your fault.

Now, I know this may sound odd but is part of the reason I asked.  I saved some of your pics which were my favorites to my computer; 56 to be exact.  I do this because I have a folder with my favorite truck pics I find online which is purely for my own personal use, in part because I like having all the eye candy lumped together regardless of where I found it, and also because you never know when they might disappear like this.  I DO NOT post those pics anywhere else online, they are purely for my own use.  However, with all this Photobucket crap going on I was wondering if you would be okay if I repost those on your child board?  I know it's far from everything, and I totally understand if you don't want me to do it.  I just want others to still be able to enjoy them; you sure saw a lot of top notch trucks. :)

Sure, that would be fine by me, in fact, appreciated! It is pretty frustrating that Photobucket did that, especially that even my signature picture is gone now too. I bet others would prefer that over countless old threads full of the Photobucket logo. Glad you saved a few, thanks!

After the trip to Beatty, I tried to run part of a day around home Thursday...took a load of squeegee from Draper to Smithfield and bounced over to Plymouth to load chips to go to Stone, Idaho. Friday and Saturday were both spent hauling sand from Brigham to Salt Lake, then more squeegee from Draper to Smithfield. Two rounds each day. I've been loving all the miles I've been getting lately, sure beats short circles around town. In fact, I've gone over a hundred thousand miles since last August. Not much for a real OTR driver, but I feel pretty good about it being local eight months out of the year. Now tomorrow I'm supposed to go to Cedar City, clear down at the other end of the state, to load something to bring back to Ogden. Can only get one load a day and will probably be doing that most of next week.

Some big horn sheep that were hanging out by US6 at Warm Springs, Nevada.

Did three of the rounds to Cedar City last week. Thursday was spent hauling from Draper to Brigham, Friday was a jobsite hauling roadbase from Trenton to Logan, and yesterday I took a load of salt to New Plymouth, Idaho. Back on the roadbase job tomorrow.

Can't even remember what I did on the 25th and 26th, but I know after that I got to go to Beatty, Nevada to pick up decorative rock and then loaded salt for Weiser, Idaho and delivered last Saturday morning. Spent all this last week taking it easy hauling to the Ogden trap and hauled sand from Draper to Salt Lake at a portable batch plant yesterday.

Holy cow! Sure have been busy! Work still ain't slowing down...all the usual plant hauls around here, more decorative rock out of Beatty, Nevada, and still more salt to Idaho sheds anytime I have a spare minute. Not to mention the truck show at Thanksgiving Point last weekend and how hard I worked the whole week before the show, late at the shop every night getting my Diamond Reo ready. I expect to be busy the next two weeks as well, as I try to get my pick-up ready and also Scarlett for a local show here in Brigham City (yes, the Royale is going too). ;D

The GMC coe is really neat, kinda got a rat rod deal going on.
Cool deal on taking the trucks to the show, hopefully we can see some pics... ;D

It was pretty wild to see when I walked out of the truck stop, haha.

Thanks, I can't share any from the Salt Lake show because I sold the coverage, but I will post lots from the upcoming show next month!

Still dirty, but we built my plexiglass air cleaner guards last week. I'm gonna polish all the aluminum on the truck today and then I'll just get a quick wash Friday night before the truck show.

Ran Ogden all last week, then grabbed a load of salt for Marsing, Idaho for Saturday delivery.

Ran a jobsite in West Point with roadbase from Willard all week.

Here's the results of my polishing on Labor Day. The truck cleaned up pretty good for the car show it went to, quite a week getting everything ready. I'll get pictures up from the show soon I hope. I'm also gonna shoot my truck with 509 and 539 today, since all three are cleaned up right now.

Ran Ogden Monday. Tuesday I ran a couple to Ogden, then three to the jobsite from the previous week in West Point, then a load of squeegee home from Draper and a load over the hill to Smithfield. Wednesday and Thursday I ran a jobsite in Syracuse hauling roadbase from a pit in Willard I'd never hauled from before. Took a load of salt to New Meadows, Idaho yesterday. The next month (maybe more) is SUPPOSED to be switching between hauling salt to Idaho and rotomilling and paving I-15 between Blackfoot and Pocatello, Idaho. I'll be gone a lot, but it will be great money.

Well, the job rotomilling and paving in Idaho cancelled, so I've pretty much been hauling salt to Idaho state sheds the last two weeks and if I'm lucky, I'll get to continue for quite awhile. It's great money and easy duty, but I do have to run long hours, so on rounds short enough to make it back home, I get home very late and I'm also doing a lot of rounds far enough from home I have to sleep in the truck a couple nights a week. Been running with friends though, so the week passes pretty quick. Did over four thousand miles last week, which is a lot pulling bellies, haha.

It seems like this season we've been in Idaho and Nevada more than we've been home, haha. We had a big order up to New Meadows we were working on and all of a sudden, they cancelled it and it went away. Now I'm back to hauling dirt with an occasional load of Utah salt after work. Went down to Cedar City for a load of landscape rock yesterday and now I'm leaving tomorrow for Beatty, Nevada for another. Sure hoping for a big order of golf course sand for St. George or more Idaho salt so I can get some good money out of the last month of belly dumping before winter.

We're trying to get the boss to hold out until Thanksgiving. He already asked one of the other guys if he wanted under a reefer yet, but we don't wanna be OTR that long. I can't go into details yet, but there's a BIG change coming my way this December. Should be a pretty exciting winter and even more exciting next spring!

Things are winding down for the season, been switching duty a lot, some decorative rock, some customer delivery sand, some local salt, and some busy work for Staker/Parson. Just hoping something really good breaks loose soon to end this belly dump season with some good money!

Well, two weeks ago, I was hauling salt to Idaho again, then took a four day weekend. Kind of a quick decision I made to go fishing with Dad one more time this year. We went to Lake Powell for a couple days, fishing was pretty slow and it was kind of gusty for the little Bass Tracker on the water, but had a good time, then took the last day off to go to St. George and pick up our new camp trailer. Spent last week running the Ogden trap for Parsons, but I'm back into the salt for Idaho again this week I think! Getting very close to my goal for what I wanted to make this year and very close to the end of my belly dump season. Getting excited for big things coming up! Only pictures I've gotten lately are from my vacation at Powell...an Autocar that was working in the campground and a Kenworth pulling a house boat out of Bullfrog Marina.

Ended up doing two rounds to New Meadows, Idaho, two rounds to Randolph, Utah, and two rounds to Caldwell, Idaho last week. Now I'm back on Ogden trap haul this week, but it's a short week and I should be able to have my goal met for the year by Thanksgiving! Very close to hooking up the reefer, just one or two weeks to go...and then I can make an announcement about some big news.

Well, wrapped up belly dump season pretty well. I did a load of salt to Caldwell, Idaho on Monday, then two back-to-back trips to Beatty, Nevada. Got back Thursday and did a good post-trip on my bellies, rinsed them off, and dropped them. Took a three day weekend to take care of some stuff around home before over-the-road season and I got the truck washed and wiped down the interior. I'm hooked to the reefer and ready to load for Seattle tomorrow. Got to run all last week with my buddy in 509, he also took the truck to get washed Friday. Scarlett still looks pretty good after a quarter million miles...and I DID meet my goal for the year of how much money I wanted to make.
