Title: VAH/VHD 630 midroof
Post by: acb88 on June 27, 2015, 07:07:38 AM
I know Volvo announced the VAH was available with the 630 flatroof, but caught one with the midroof.  Don't think a midroof would work well as an autohauler because the extra height would limit the ability to carry vehicles over top of the cab.  I do think it is a VAH and not a VHD though.

That is very interesting. It does in fact appear to be a VAH model also. The low profile tires and chassis layout make it look to be setup as an auto hauler, but I doubt the cab height would allow for any vehicles to be loaded overhead, even with the small tire profile. Perhaps a boat or RV hauler? A lot of them also use truck bodies with stinger trailers similar to auto carriers.
Also, note there are a large # of VAH daycabs in the background. I cannot think of an auto carrier that uses dark silver cabs like that, so I wonder who they are destined for.

Nice catch!! It seems Volvo does build "custom" trucks when the customer requires them. For examples, Dart's "VNM670's", a configuration not listed on the site.

I believe the VNM uses the same cab as the VNL series so it probably wasn't too hard for them to do the VNM670's, but they are definitely unique.
